i'll be selling my Alpine beta 1 for $1000, but it would need a new belt and it's just the hard pieces (no screws or gaskets), piggyback computer w/ wiring diagram. it's got 6k miles on it so it's fairly new.
i'm going to keep it until i decide for sure i don't want to run it, i'll keep you in mind. other than that i think importshark.com has a hold of them for $3,000 brand new. i don't know where you can get them other than from alpine themselves if you want to give them a phone call.
shipping to the U.K. wouldn't be that difficult actually, i have some exporting connections i don't think you would have to go through customs. i'll get back to you soon, but in the meantime if you don't mind spending $3,000 for a new one call alpine themselves. Xorro got hers from there and i heard they upgraded the beta supercharger a little bit.

what screws and gaskets are we talking about? the ones for the intake manifold, they should be easy to get and I think the belt should be quite easy too, just need the size. Is this the old alpine supercharger like Zorros that needs the engine to be dropped or the new one? thanks for the reply's.

i'll upload pics for ya. yeah it's the same exact one Xorro had, but i think the european versions were different than the US versions, i'm the third owner of it (first owner sold his car, second owner went to military) and they didn't have any clearance issues at all. yeah it's just the hard gear here, nothing in between. you can use stock studs/bolts as it is just like any other intake manifold. i have oil lines, two mounts, two belts i think, and then a piggyback. pretty much all you need to set it up. i'm looking to sell it to someone who has connections and knows what they're doing. i have to ask Zoe about watercooling because i don't think it's possible, then again i don't think you need an aquacooler because the PSI is so low, you can go up to 7psi just by upgrading injectors and changing pulleys so the blades spin faster.
the second owner did a dyno and the supercharger created 4psi but only came up to about 170 horsepower or something small like that. i think it was a 24hp gain overall, but i think he was running a stock engine, so to get it anywhere near 200 you would have to follow Xorros work.
Supercharger weighs about 22 pounds or so. tell me how serious you are about a supercharger and shipping one over than to buy one from them direct?
are you from UKCS? hehe, i had some business over there, bought an F2 evo bumper from richard. i love those guys... customs cost me $1000 on top of the bumper, if you know anyway to get around customs then it would be very easy. i checked with my exporter, she doesn't ship to the UK 02.gif

it's fairly new, 6,000 miles for a supercharger isn't a lot. if you've ever seen the inside of an airram intake, i'd polish the inside of the supercharger manifold to get some smoother airflow. i have never seen it used before hence it was never on my car because i was afraid to throw it on a stock high mileage engine, and i don't have the kinds of shop connections in Wash. D.C.. To run superchargers you have to run high octane fuel, and I'm a college student and I travel a lot in my Tiburon! get back to me here if you're interested. I can try to check into avoiding customs somehow if you like.

customs aint a problem cos you can say your sending a test version for trial and research and it is not for sale. That way you technically have not sold anything to me but can insure it for the amount it is worth cool.gif SSautochrome done the same thing with the 4-2-1 headder and it didn't cost me any taxes. but 4 psi sounds like nothing especially only creating a 24hp gain, i could do that with 240 cams from this site!
I think i will reconsider the supercharger as the turbo kit from viper is looking alot more promising now.
If you could, can you get back to me with a shipping charge for the supercharger and the best price you could do for me. do you have any sort of instructions on how to fit it?

definitely a good idea to claim there's no sale for customs. i should have thought of that. but yeah i'll definitely check up on that!
yeah, turbochargers are definitely the way to go plus they would be lighter. there's just a lot more parts involved and you definitely have to run an aftermarket computer or stock hyundai parts just sttart poppin'.
there is no installation instructions, but it fits in just like any regular intaske manifold would. i think there's no PCV brackets so the PCV would have to be tucked in between the supercharger and firewall. i need to ask Xorro about throttle cable clearance.
superchargers are great if you want instant powerband all rpm range. they sound really nice and you can even hook up a blow off valve if you wanted just like a turbo. problem is it's kind of heavy and it has limits. they also replace the intake manifold and nothing more, so you would still be keeping your headers as well as your cold air intake. that's why i bought it in the first place.
i don't think you can get 20 horsepower from a cam bro!! any cam mods you throw in will go about 3-8 horsepower depending on mods, maybe 10 horsepower with boost but then you're dealing with cam timing ratios and really complicated stuff. there's a lot of ways to get it up to spec, but for $1000 for a used supercharger plus $2000 in aftermarket modifications, i think you would be paying $3,000 for a brand new supercharger with less gains. it all depends...
it all depends on what you want. if you do the right things, supercharger is a good way to get that extra kick. turbocharger requires LOTS of work in order for it to work right whereas superchargers are more for the plug and play type. write to Xorro and ask her about if it's worth it over a turbocharger. i read she loved and missed her supercharger over the turbo cars she'd driven before. read up a little about the problems that come up. i wouldn't want you to be buying something you'd rather not like in the end. i'll definitely get back to you with some info. the gains come from the top of my head and aren't exact.

yea I set my car up for a supercharger but the gains just don't look as good as I had hoped.
As for the cams, airborne is selling some that claim over 20whp increase! I was thinking I could use these with the supercharger and get me a nice 50whp.
Im definately interested so just get back to me with the shipping costs and maybe we can work something out cos im not really looking to pay too much just to get it here. Im just a bit worried about it fitting because I read xorros install and it was a bit of a bugger!
If you know the length of the belt Im gonna need that would be appreciated and also if you know where the bracket goes for the belt, if it's just a straight bolt on or does something need modifying.
Dude, i done some research on the supercharger and it says that I need to relocate the air-con because its the old style idler pulley and the engine will need to be dropped a little to accomodate the supercharger.
They have now redesigned it with a new manifold and a better idler pulley so it's a straight bolt on.
I will try and buy the idler bracket from alpine, i sent them an email today. Lets see if I can get it.
I also found the installation instructions, check them out, I think i need another bracket too.

Bal, don't buy anything unless your 100% sure it's what you want and unless you already have the parts to go with it. i'll get back to you with some info buddy. i don't think there needs to be any modification with the one i have, it should be just a bolt on kit plug and play. that's the trouble here is that i have never installed it. i'll swing a PM over to the person i bought it from. i'll double check about the air conditioning. i was never aware of it getting in the way anything 02.gif
there is a lot of potential to a supercharger, a few additions and you could get it up to 50hp or more, it would just be a little more expensive than the turbo.
i have the old belt here, so to get it replaced all you would need is to match it. i'll see about fitment with the AC today. to my awareness, the previous owners didn't have any problems with clearance. i don't think they had to have their engines repositioned.
