I had the airram, and while I did like it, it caused more issues than it was worth. I'm happier with my bored IM than I was with the airrram.
My airram would hit my firewall all the time, and caused the intake to not sit straight anymore. Front strut bar was lost with it, and other than the bling factor, it just wasn't worth it.
Wish Tim was still doing the IM's, he did a great job on mine.

I have not had those problems with my Airram. It has never hit the firewall, even on full boost. The strut bar thing was an issue until I got the one from Bryan. But, if I had to by an intake manifold again I would buy a stock one and get it bored out.

same here. it causes more problems than it's worth like injector harness through ports, PCV brackets, capping and extending hoses, custom strut bar ...some other issues. having it bored out is the best.
the bling factor can be easily done with a drill and dremel tip. someone on UKCS polished one on their own:

^^^ Wow that looks real good wish I would of had done that when I was working on the IM.
I've never owned an Airram however, with the price it is selling at I would just work on your own IM. It's really not that hard and you'll feel a difference.

Let's note a few things, you won't "feel" a huge difference with a Bored IM or even an Airram if you don't have much done to your car. Until your exhaust is fully done, your intake is huge, and you have dome some cams or something else, you won't get a ton out of it.
SOCKS doesn't build manifolds, he orders them from Treadstone and other places. I don't recall any of them being custom worked.
Well, you don't have Outlaw Engineering Spacers either though do you man?
Let's see some problems with the airram.
1. Custom work needs done to use cruise control.
2. Some custom work needs done to get the idle bypass to fit correctly.
3. Intakes such as the AEM will need to be remounted, and a new intake elbow is sometimes necessary to get it all to line up right.
4. Injector harness needs stretched and or completely rerouted to reach.
5. Custom strut bar needed.
6. Lack of space between airram and firewall.
7. Can't remember it all but not all the hoses will connect.
I know there were others.

Well, if my Gruppe-S manifold falls through, I'll probably have SOCKS build me a split T3 flange manifold smile.gif

I'm not trying to discredit you, just saying I do not have that problem. You are right though, I do not have the spacers.
1. I didn't know about that, I don't have or need cruise.
2. Mine is there and in place although unused.
3. It's a custom manifold, I would imagine it is designed to hook to the stock filter system, not an AEM.
4. I routed mine under the manifold so it is not as visible, fits fine.
5. All strut bars are custom, our cars did not come with them. But yes, you do need something other than what is typically available on ebay.
6. Like I said, I don't have a lack of space, I am sure outlaw engineering and Rside did not get together to make sure there parts worked in sync.
Simply put, it is a custom part so you can expect to have issues to deal with when mixing it with other custom parts.

Bah, the definition of custom is up for debate here, that's all.
LOL
No worries Java, I know what you mean and what you are getting at. I'm just pointing out to the guy this stuff because of what we went through at Kspec when we had teh GB's on them. Some folks flipped out because it didn't bolt up and run without modifications to everything else.
This guy in particular is looking for some quick, cheap, and easy power, and the airram doesn't exactly fit any of those.
Sometimes I miss mine. Tis a great piece of work.
