The diameter size of the 1.8 is the same as the 2.0, however the pistons are not the same, the 1.8 have a little more compression on the 1.8 engine, but piston is different, I don't know if these ones fit both 1.8 and 2.0 better make sure first.

Also, tose are overbore sizes, you could machine your cylinder walls to enlarge them, but I wouldn't go too far, besides, I don't think there is really so mucho of a gain in 0,5mm to risk engine dependability... 82,5 should be as fine as 83mm and with very few power less.

Sorry guys,

Webmaster has made a mistake.

13.0:1... dammit smile.gif

As with the bore size, 1.8L and 2.0L are the same.
But since 1.8L pistons are a little taller, this is why they offer higher compression.
However the stroke is different.

1.8 is the shorter stroke engine.

I don't think anyone has over sizing the block over seas.

In Korea, drage cars are 2m over sized which offer around 2.1L and around 230hp at the wheels in NA format.

Thank you.

David

what would I have to do to my car to have these pistons in and not go boom. i mean i've been reading around and it seems the higher you raise your compression ratio the more power it produces. Currently running stock and want to have a little more power. Looking into mechanical tuning as apposed to FI.

I don't think you would want to run these with turbo... Don't you have to DROP the compression for turbo applications? However, these along with some high end cams could make a wicked ass NA car.... I may have to reconsider the turbo idea.... Can you imagine pulling 250 whp NA? THAT would be impressive. Not as fast as higher end turbos, but impressive.

for my car with turbo.
hyundai coupe 1.8 litre 1997.

I've already upgraded the camshafts.
Which size pistons do I use 82mm, 82.5mm, 83mm.

So I could boost it above 16psi

from what i've been reading around on this web site, if you haven't done anything to the internals of your cars factory bore of the cylinders then 82mm. if you go to kspec it says factory is 82mm.

i don't want FI. I want to keep it NA. So my question is would my valves clear with these new pistons or would I have to do some other serious stuff, New head, etc just to get the car to perform with the piston by itself? I have to do upgrades part by part so large amounts of mods at once is not possible with my small budget per month.

ok i have a few thing i want to know about thes pistons,

1. can you run 13:0 on the street or is it too much???

2. let say i take my 2.OL block and put in 1.8L crankshat and keep the 2.OL rods, now that will drop compression so if i put thes pistons in my compression should be between 11: to 12: right????
