Seoulfulracing 1.6/2.0 Ecu Convertor
I don't know about new engines, but as far as I know, there were no 1.6 Betas with MAF; actually the new 1.6 engines from Hyundai are not even Betas.
Well, from what I remember from the 1.6 Beta Elantra I had, the plug was exactly the same as in the 2.0; the only difference was the clutch type, gear ratios and in the engine, the displacement and ECU setup, the rest was all the same.
REDZ, two things I wanted to throw in for the discussion:
1) If they can fit an ECU for cars that swaped 2.0 engines in, why not do it for other 2.0 engines?
At this point maybe they cannot do it for the guys with Bosch Ecus, but could they do it for us already with Siemens Ecus?
2) I got my ECU serial numbers, they are different than those on the pics of the SFR ECUs, but mine IS A SIEMENS; serial is 39100-23580 / 39110-23580 I would suspect they differ because my ECU is an open Loop ECU (no Oxy sensor on the exhaust and no emission controls; my car came with no catalytic convertor; you regulate fuel by a little reostat on the engine bay).
Could you ask the guys in Korea if this could be compatible with my setup?

Not getting past the code... The problem with remapping our ECUs is that someone has to take the time to unsolder the chip, put a socket in there and resolder it back in. Then to reprogram the chip, you take it out, plug it into a machine and then plug it back in the ECU. I would not have had a problem with the expensive machine. It was the expensive chip that I didn't want to buy. When you unplug a chip and plug it in multiple times the pins tend to break. Not to mention durring unsoldering you have to be VERY careful. Our ECUs, for the record, are easily reprogrammable, once you get the chip out of the unit, it may even be possible to do it in the unit with a specialized adapter. After that, it's a matter of reading the values, making sence of the tables, and then a bit of tweaking and testing. As of yet, noone has taken the time to do so and report the results online because there's money to be made from it.
If this were a larger forum with more members, we'd all be writing our own code rather then having 2 individuals who know a guy who can reprogam our speciffic chip.
Is this for the 96-01 model or just the new Tib.

With newer cars you don't need to take the chip out. The chip itself can be rewritten in the ECU , via the OBD port. You just need to have the right software to read the chip and the security seed (password).

Right a little confused here i have a 1.6 beta rd1 as i live in europe which is map based, so would this coversion harness allow me to drop the 2.0 bete in with out replacing all the wiring behind the dash.
or is it designed to run the 1.6 on a 2.0 ecu

There's no need for this on a Beta 1, it's actually for folks that do a swap from the 1.6L alpha to the Beta engine.
i believe that if they are doing tunning on it they prob use the beta 2 ecu because they have the avaible info and software to tune it. but it would be cool if we could switch our ecu,s for that one and tune it. red you should try to find out what exactly is involved and if maybe we can do this.
