Okay, I finally went out with some black construction paper and made up some of the cowlings/visors I'd been suggesting for some time. After I was done, I actually REALLY like the way they look.

They should be dirt cheap to make from CF or FG, and with the bumper off, you should be able to attach all 4 of them with a screw for permanant mounting, or with tape even if you want. Pressure against your headlight would also keep it in place.

They aren't perfect, but I rikey.

Kind of a neat idea. Never really pictured anything like that. I would like to see how it would look in fg molded to the bumper. Im sure its on yijoo or something.

I think I've seen that idea float around before. Probably from you I'd assume. It looks better than I thought it would. Not sure about it though.

Great idea. I was trying to get SOCKS to do something like that because his looked too flat for me. I think it looks great. Can you get a further away pic?

I see your car is almost back to show condition! Nice hood. You could use an e-bay bumper. Did you have to use your favorite gay pride color for the eye lids?

Keep in mind that some states (south carolina included) have laws regarding "modification to the headlamp housing". To avoid those laws, try to make it mount to the bumper or curve around the o-rings.

i could see something like this working if a flange of some sort on the backside of the eyelid was built into the mold and then 3m tape was used. that way you could still take the bumper off easily and still use the rubber o-rings around the headlights.

I doubt you could see if the construction paper would hinder the way the light displays on the road. this is the only problem i would have with these. if they don't take away from the lighting ability of OEM headlights (HID's not included) I think it would be a good idea.

^^^
That's what I was thinking. Having them go behind the bumper at the top, flange back over the bumper like a lip. Some 3M automotive tape, should work fine.

I took those "straight on" shots so you could see that the light, going at the road, isn't going to change at all, you just won't light up the trees overhead anymore.

LOL

It's rough to say the least. LOL Let's see how it looks after it's done a bit better.

No, I can't.

My car is in identical condition as it was after the accident, WTF are you talking about?

I'm getting a new bumper for the repainting next year.

DTN, are you TRYING to piss me off? I even posted above, it's BLACK construction paper. Gay pride? f*** you.

Read the thread, that's EXACTLY what I said. There is no modification to the headlights at all, you moron.

Thanks for the OTHERWISE good comments folks.

^^ It looks like pinkish purple. I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to piss you off that badly. Your car looks alot better then it did in the origonal pictures. I'm sorry. It looked like you did some work. Like just the headlights are slightly off now.

I like the passenger side eye lid better. It may just be the angle, but the drivers side looks more pointy.

Are these going to mount to the edge of the bumper, or to the headlight? The way the laws I'm referring to read, if you tape something to the front of the housing, or screw it into the housing, it could be considered a modification if the cop wants to be a *insert your favorite word here*. If you mount something to the bumper, you're good. I'm really paranoid about that and I keep all South Carolina laws which refer to headlamps in my glove box because I've been pulled over for my blue HID headlights 2 times now and been questioned another time. As long as I'm legal, I have a leg to stand on.

A ticket will be thrown away if it's completely unjustified or unspecified in the laws. I'd like to see these mount to the bumper if possible.

DTN, I think you missed the other thread. Redz was just showing us what he meant. If these were to be made they would all be the same shape and everything and Im sure they would not affect lighting at all. These were just quick construction paper jobs.

these seem like a good idea but wouldnt they catch air? i would think the drag caused by them would rip them off at high speed.

I'm not even replying to DTN's post, he still can't read.

Optimus, shouldn't be a problem when they are made from a couple of layers of CF/FG.

Now the ones on my car, I expect them to come off tomorrow at about 35MPH.
