So we can sum this up by saying that anytime you buy an after market shifter to take it apart and grease it even if it comes fully assembled.
Iagree with Caj. And no, I'm not saying that, I guess I"m just anal. I always take new stuff apart and make sure it's clean and lubed before using it.

Great sig quote right there....
I asked Caj to post this thread after discussing the details because I felt the issue at hand was more than what had been previously discussed regarding Megan Racing STS. I'm unaware of whether this is an isolated incident or something present in all Megan/IS STS. I would suggest that anyone who owns a Short Throw Shifter from Megan Racing or Import Shark take proper steps to clean and inspect their STS.

I find it dishartening that the megan comes dissasembled, with no instructions. It's a GREAT shifter, but just a few problems that keep it from being the best. For the price, if you fix what's wrong, it's probably the best.
The iS one looks identical except for the knob, and it's pre assembled. The bearing in the center is the same. I'm really perplexed why it wouldnt' come packed with grease. That's just not right.

damn that sucks, but for one, condensation of the metal made it rust... ...it rusted because it had little or no grease, or the wrong grease that dripped or squeezed its way out.
which reminds me, Im gonna go add a dap of grease to my Advanced RSide S/S
good luck on the fix.

I swear, every time I see Loneshark's sig I think it looks like a photoshop of a chick's torso with the front of a tip pasted in and the headlights replace her "headlights." The color on the sides would be the arms. lmao.gif

How did the P&P go Caj?

I personally assemble them myself and grease the moving parts. I receive the shifters in non packaged pieces so assembly is a must. I really can not explain the why this happened, it does sound like a grease issue. I have had one installed in my 99 for well over a year now. I check it tonight and see if it's doing the same thing.
I realize its a completely different shifter but; I've had my TWM for going on 3 years now with no such issues. Still shifts as free and as smooth as when I initally bought it. A failure like this shouldn't have happened for any reason within a years time.
