Default I hope your better Ballrub

All i can say is i hope you are better than people before you Ballrub. It seems so far that you are and you are more interested in putting out quality kit than anyone else at alpine.

The reason i say this is because i spoke to someone today that has a lot of dealings with the unichip and yourselves and they told me that Alpine knew all along that the chips were differant for every country. Thats right people the MAF MAP thing isnt the problem the chips are completely differant even between the UK and SA, and the answer was ship them anyway thell just get them remapped. That is CRAP i hope you carry on putting in the work to improve the name and the product. Its a real shame that someone before you had that attitude on what is a very good kit.

Thanks Jon

It is my understanding that Alpine was aware of the ECU Differences between USA and SA, but they informed purchasers that there was NOT a USA spec unichip setup by them yet, and that purchasers were informed that they would have to get the unichip retuned.

I'm not 100% sure what they told you and Zorro in the UK regarding your unichip's, but in the USA at least, most of the owners I have spoken with were informed of a retune. I am the only exception to that rule, as the Turbo and SC were installed by alpine, and thusly "retuned" when they were installed.

However, even after this latest retune, I'm still getting check engine lights. *arrrggghhh*

P0506...engine Idle RPM lower than expected
P1128...Long term fuel trim too rich/out of range.

I'm digging into WHY I keep getting these CEL's.

Nope we were told nothing even when i was having major problems with the programme they didnt even admit it then. From what i understand as well they only started telling people after people started hastling them with problems. Wheras they knew about the differance from the start. The answer of send them anyway thell just have to get them retuned is what got me.

Jon...

I don't know what happend, or how things were handled in the past, and to bring this subject up again, will only involve more finger pointing, and bottom line, get us nowhere. But you are right about one thing...I DO CARE, and will do everything in my power to make sure applications sold here in the U.S. are tuned for U.S. vehicles.

Our new R&D guy starts this Friday, and his first task is to fix the problems on the red 2000 Tibby Tony (random) dropped off last month, and then "backward" engineer the kit to get running properly. As soon as we get all of the bugs out of this car, should be able to get the s/c running properly, and ready for CARB testing.

As soon as that is done, we plan to bring Tony's white tib back in to find the cause of his CEL's.

I can't change what's happened in the past, but will do everything in my power to rectify any existing problems out there with our applications. That's a promise!

Sorry for the late reply ive been away with work. Its good to hear that because every one that has done anywork on my car has said how good the setup itself is and now i have the tuning sorted out i love it. Just a few more minor glitches to sort out to get the tickover running smoother but the power is great and the turbo itself spools up just how i want it to. Also people that said it was to small thats why there was no power at top end were wronge now that the tuning is pretty good it pulls all the way to the red line.

Thanks Jon, for the "Testimonial"!

SEE!!!! If installed on a good running vehicle to start, and if installed properly, and "dialed in", these kits DO kick some butt! I know we've had some problems and issues with the Unichip tuning in the past, but with over 22 years of experience (have sold and installed over 22,000 turbos and superchargers to date worldwide!), I'd have to say that Alpine Developments DOES know what their doing!
