Default CNK LSD???

I know that this will be in the works very soon, but I want to know if there will be a competive price to the K.O.R.E Kaaz Unit$850.00 or the Quailfe LSD $1000.00thats coming out.

Will it be stronger? Will we have a guarantee on it if it blows? Will we need to change out parts as the Quailfe unit requires mitsu speedo drive for about 30.00-40.00 more and new bearings for the differential.

I ask cause I really dont feel that the units should not be so much for such a small tranny system. Ive seen other LSD so far cheaper for other cars. We are just having to pay outrageous pricing cause of the name behind the product.

If the CNK Unit can be better and more affordable considering it will be made by a Hyundai specialist and not to mention seemingly enthusiast than im with CNK all the way.

Let us know your thoughts and opinions, cause Im not spending a 800-1000 on a dang LSD.

you think we are paying 1000 just for the name?

Do you know what an LSD does?

You obviously dont know the difference between a phantom gip ($200) and a quaife ($1000).

You should read more on an LSD and the different types of LSDs and so called LSDs before you comment on them

Killer, you have to understand that an LSD is a complex device.

If your not shooting for neck snapping horsepower, and want the benefits of what an LSD has to offer, I would consider the Phantom Grip.

Its much cheaper than buying a true LSD.

Ok i'm the broken diff. record holder so my opinion is from my experience. If CNK can make a a stronger diff case, spider gears and diff.pin i will just get a PG with the green springs and thats all. The PG really works i can assure that but the spider gears are too weak to withstand the pressure. Quaiffe is the best option but it will still need to be tested and the price is JESUS!!. If the car really has power it will find a weak link and break it even with the quaiffe (axles are next). What it is really important is how you drive and the care you take.Even if you have kriptonite on your drivetrain it will find a way to break something.

Jaws --

Does that mean no-one else can make an LSD? mmhhhh I is now thinking...... this is very tempting.... but time...

Onpol,

The guy I am talking to about the longer ratio 5th gear for the Tiburon has years of experience under his belt with race gearboxes, straight cut gears, specialized synchro's and and.... I feel he could shed some light onto the matter for me, and perhaps I could learn some value from his advise --- the tooling to make the gears is not a hassle, and thus is also the same tooling (CNC millers and lathes) to make the Diffs and speider gears etc.

Let me think about this and perhaps come up with a plan.... cost is the only thing... I would have to start a GB for this to work out right.... but hey lets try and see what comes of it.

no cnk... dont get me wrong

im not saying that any other manufacturer cant make an LSD

I just want this guy to understand... there is a huge difference between and pg, a quaife, and a kaaz.

Yes its a heavy price... but its the price we have to pay for the industries leading LSD manufacturer that is confident enough to warranty their product to outlast the transmission itself

Im pretty sure if cnk does come out with an LSD its not going to be the 200-300 your hoping for. The hyundai community is a small market,... you have to add manufacturing cost, research cost, r&d cost,... and to face the fact that when it comes to one of those mods that have very limited demand on an already limited market.... your not going to sell much

LSD ranks among those mods such as stronger engine mounts, rods, standalones, roll cages, ect...

I still strongly suggest you read the difference between LSDs... if you claim you already know... go for a phantom grip,... its only like 200 bucks.

Im with you .... let me comment on this though.... price is always a problem for high performance components, everyone knows this. Also when it comes to specialized parts like an LSD which is in fact not very popular because of the fact that it is so expensive (main reason) people don't go for them.

Now with the tooling and machinery I have access to - the only cost for me is my time (which I give the Hyundai community free!) and the cost of the material which is manufactured in South Africa therefore MUCH cheaper than anywhere else in the world! Remember WE supply your country with 99% of it's raw materials...

Also the fact that the dollar versus Rand shows that the dollar is now weakened against the rand, BUT the rand is still 7 times weaker than the dollar R7.10 for one US Dollar ---- the price is 7 times less than Quaiffe or others....

For example, Put it this way --- whenI start the GB on the CNK ECU later this year - you will be paying $150.00 for the unit for a minimum of 25 participants.... I can do this because of the low manufacturing costs in South Africa.

Let me do some homework before givingyou false hopes and empty promises, and I will come back with some answers.

My goal is in essense not to create an LSD, but instead a much stronger diff. If I can do the LSD mods too - that would be a bonus. smile.gif
