its really too thin to bother trying to sand it all down and get it smooth and repaint it.. i would scrap it or get a new one..
its attached to the rubber stripping, just take rubber off and just use rubber, not the metal.. thats what i am doing right now. i haven't had the metal part of it since 2004. still looks exactly the same tho.

I'm glad you made this thread, I was considering taking that off and sanding it down and painting along with the wiper arms and cowlings. I think I'll just skip it and buy one from the dealership. Mine isn't as bad as yours, but it's getting there. I might as well skip the headache and just buy a new one.

Dealership here quoted me $65 CAD for a new one.
That piece helps to keep water from coming in under your hood. Mine was rusted so bad it actually fell apart in the engine bay. When I put my angel eyes in, I ripped it off (on purpose, because it was ugly) when I removed the bumper. For $65 I haven't bothered to put a new one in, but I would really like to replace it too if I found one cheap.

^That would be sweet. I want a metal (stainless/bushed aluminum/chrome) and black theme in the engine bay and that would a really good accent piece...But thanks for the comments. I guess i'll be going down to the dealership but I will do some more important stuff with 65$ first if it actually will cost that much.
