I expected more turnout. Was it because you got there late?

And the girly engine bay award goes to......

wow that's truly incredible how faithful those owners are to this day and how those old stellars and ponies still driving around. your car looks like it's coming along great after your last incident. hopefully it will be all finished but you know how daily driving is.

rims look a lot better!

how is the muffler?!

We need more pix of TC dancing on top of her car at a car event... Those pix rocked. What IS with all the Ponys and Stellars TC? I hear you talking about a Pony in your garrage all the time, is that the thing where you are from?

lol, it's girly, but not overly girly I dont think. The only other place I have purple on the car is on teh calipers, which I may change to red when I do the XG swap..

all of those ponies and stellars belong to my bf Jed, he also owns another pony which his is doing a headlight conversion on right this very minute. He swapped the 2.0 Stellar motor in it. He's absolutely crazy about these cars, and as much as it can be a hassle dealing with him juggling 4 cars at once, I admire his passion. I never even knew what these cars were until I met Jed. We dont have them down in the states.

Yeah we got there around 3 because of RIDICULOUS traffic, there were a bunch of people there before but they didn't stay until 4, which is when the meet was supposed to go to. Oh well, next Sunday we are having another meet so we should have more pics and a better turnout, and maybe even some crazy drunk pictures, lol! None of my on the sunroof thought cause we started putting my carbon fiber sunroof in. Dont wanna break it, haha.

lol, we started putting it in at the meet but then we realized that I forgot the new weather stripping, and also we need to modify it a little to fit.

damn so your bf owns 4 old hyundais? those were like the very first ones!! well, second but still classic. no wonder you're so into these cars!!

so do explain, what drives him to like those cars? not that there's anything to like, but that's a lot of devotion.

your car looks very nice. i like how the rims look now. and i like the blue car too, if your bf put some wheel spacer on the back it would look a lot better. oh and drop it a lil' bit too. fing02.gif

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ScoupeLS @ Aug 22 2007, 08:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>your car looks very nice. i like how the rims look now. and i like the blue car too, if your bf put some wheel spacer on the back it would look a lot better. oh and drop it a lil' bit too. fing02.gif</div>

I Allready have spacers: 16mm worth in the back. It's because the axle is too short. When that stellar goes to the heap, i'm gonna take it's axle out and put it in the blue one, maybe even the engine too why not wink1.gif

As for why I like them: They can take a severe beating (trust me or else there will be an essay on it here) to the tune of jumping 4 feet in the air (railway tracks + 140 KM/h) and have no damage at all, attain great speeds (same pony, very close to 200 KM/h only mod: auto to manual. Speed was attained once and never attempted again) , survive winters without rustproofing (several of my beater cars a few years back), get hit by a mack truck, 95 escort, 2002 sunfire (which was written off at $12,000 damage, damage to pony = $18.50) AND hit an acura EL and still look good (ask liz to post up some pics of the orange pony) and drive to Florida, New York, Ottawa, Montreal + Ottawa and halfway to Maine with only the starter dying and an ebrake clip getting loose (total cost to fix $50) and New York again... for a car I paid $350 for, sold for $500, and bought back for $150 (after it had been rammed by the escort and then the sunfire)

They're simple, RWD, SOHC 8 valve Hemi engines (1.4 or 1.6L displacement) Point ignition, (most i've converted to EIS) double barrel downdraft carbs, manual choke, NO COMPUTERS! These things NEVER break down. In a total of 7 years of owning 10 pony's (a few were parts cars) the only times they've broken down on their own is because of very old ignition wiring or a rich carb burning fuel and me running out of gas. Never have they broken down on their own (and trust me I DID NOT MAINTAIN the beaters at all, not even oil changes) so what's not to like?

Achilles' heel for the daily drivers are: Holes develop under the seat frame, due to a haphazard frame "strengthening" by the koreans for the canadian market.

Achilles' heel for performance: TINY front brakes (50% larger than REAR RD pads, albeit drums are bigger than RD), LOTS of body roll (easy fix) and if you happen to have a 1.4L 4spd manual or 3spd auto engine.... lots of torque, 70 RWHP! Also the brakes almost never fully grab straight on moderate braking, but do stop the car true. Hard braking = OK, light braking = OK, moderate braking = slight pull to the left.

I'll take some pics of the stellar motor in my '84, as I am going there right now to fit a new rad. The old one literally exploded at the core! It cannot take the 2 liter stellar power!!! Also i'm convertign to electric fan.
