hail.gif All hail Mad-Machine and his words of wisdom... you beat me to the soapbox. hail.gif

My exhaust goes under the axle, but I'm 95% sure it has less bends than that. Rather odd. Mad, its just avoiding the two 90 degree bends right after the other, with two 45 degrees instead. But his looks bendier than mine.

I see 4x 45 degree bends - same path the stock follows except at the axle. Those are the same bends the Apexi exhaust takes (I should know wink1.gif ). How can replacing 2 sharp bends + 1 mild bend with 2 mild bends NOT help performance?

Anyone have a link to the affect of cats on hp? I know I have read that a hiflow cat doesn't even result in a 1hp loss, but no mention of how that number was arrived at

It's a fact, however, that a catless car pollutes 10x as much.

Yeah, it is welded in a lot of places. But I wouldn't expect Tim to have access to a 2.5in mandrel bender anyways. As long as the welds are clean it shouldn't make much of a difference.

As for the effects of cats on HP, on my GSX I noticed maybe 5whp or so difference when I had it off for a while. And that was when I was pushing 17PSI. A N/A I4 like the Tib might see 2-3whp difference. Maybe.

On the contrary, the bends are fine & are obviously mandrel-bent. I was referring to all the joins on the straight sections... Like the little 3-4 inch long sections, etc... But, as you stated, if done properly they shouldn't hurt performance. I just thought it was odd to have those small sections at all when longer sections would've meant fewer welds (would've been less work, too).

Overall though, the exhaust looks awesome! Can't wait to see it fitted.

Oh I know its mandrel-bent. Its just that Tim doesn't have a full length mandrel bending machine, but bought the pieces seperately, and welded it all together. Higher end companies like GReddy run a six foot long pipe through a bender, and don't have any weld marks.
