soooo. just incase people were wondering where i've been (doubt it). Since thursday night, i have not had power. we finally got it turned back on tonight (5 days). A lot of the state (including certain sections of my city) are still without power and may not get it back til the end of the week. My city had 100% power outage.
We had a MASSIVE ice storm thursday night basically turning north central mass, southern new hampshire and southern maine into a warzone. an estimated 1 million people had no power in new england (350,000 in Mass). Temperatures during the black out dropped to 10 degrees Saturday night. My apartment (basement level) dropped to 35 degrees inside. This is something i have never seen, my parents have never seen... and quite frankly i never want to deal with again. it was complete chaos.
I can't even begin to describe the chaos for gas (the Hess corporation sent out 18 wheeler generator trucks to all their affected stores... only gas stations open for 3 days). then when the malls open (i work for sears) the panic for generators, invertors, gas cans and deep cycle batteries. The local Home Depot sold as of business opening Saturday 1500 generators. they were getting shipments from stores as far away as Michigan and Virginia.
these pictures (i stole from friends, i never went out to take pics) can barely do this situation justice.
these following pictures were taken 4 days after the storm hit. still chaos

Yeah we got hit with that too, still many places without power.
Still MANY trees and power lines down.
I was up at GORE mountain boarding when the storm hit, I came back home and it looked like a bomb went off, I honestly didn't reconize my own road. And this was 2 days after the storm. Then I got to my house and notice a 20ft tree limb about 2 feet away from the side of my house...whewwwww
Sadly, there seems to be another batch of this crap comming, so that will certainly delay the clean up effort.
Props to National Grid fing02.gif They've been out there every night, all night.
