Well, its been just a little over a year since i bought this Tib off of Dweet and we finally took some time off from buying parts for my car to buying parts for her car since it was desperately needing them. Now of course, this is the first 5spd Erika has ever owned so you can take that into effect some of the pics you will see in the next few days and some of the other repairs we are doing body wise.
I spent roughly the 3 hours the very first day of teardown repairing wiring in the engine bay that was cut and lengthened for some reason. Not to mention the fact that when we were taking off the exhaust, the rear O2 sensor was ziptied to the chassis cause a bung was never welded into the motoria catback this car had on it.
for now, here is a few pics, I will get many more tomorrow as I was in sort of rush to get a few pics taken because we didn't take any before shots which I apologize for.
Erika's poor red tib, life will be back in her soon
bodywork while tranny and exhaust work done all at once, woohoo, such fun.
pile of goodies in the hatchback. thinking I need to install that turbo sitting there but it isn't mine, lol.
new friction plate installed on the fidanza flywheel. will get a pic of the old one tomorrow and you will get a good laugh out of that.
I have to pull it out of a junk car that we used as a trashbin on sunday while we were cleaning up the shop. along with the pressure plate and the clutch which were just as bad.
more pics tomorrow.

that rear o2 sensor thing, you can actually leave the 2nd o2 sensor out permanently and never have a code for some reason. Looks like fun, best of luck mang.

ok guys, new pics. got the tranny back on, the intake manifold bolts taken out, and finally the whole exhaust has been removed. only had to use the "flame wrench" twice. lmao.gif
bumper all sanded down, ready for primer.
a nasty old SR racing header if i remember right.
old flywheel friction plate
spec stage 3 clutch, worn the goodie right out of it.
pressure plate grooved just as bad as the flywheel.
old air cleaner. replaced it with a ricerriffic spectre, it'll do.
good to have a GF that will get dirty along side with you. she took out the exhaust with minimal help from me.
work to be done tomorrow:
finish bolting up tranny and starter
hook back up all sensors and whatnot
start on exhaust starting at the header and working towards the back.
that is all for now on 2/20/09

ahhh so that's what you were talking about when you said i should see dweet's car! HAHA. i suppose it's because you have an awesome garage, it was freezing this morning. that's a lot of work. i hope you got all the screws in zip locks.

actually to tell the truth HKC, we are replacing every nut, bolt, and screw as we go along with new ones cause of the great amount of salt that Ohio seems to put on their road surfaces.
I did get a kick our of the flange on the fonza catback that broke the weld cleanly all the way around the tubing and fell off.
I have been getting all the metric bolts and nuts at work for free since we never use them, another way to save on this build for sure. not that it is needed but all of them are grade 8 bolts to boot.
