I would suggest that it depends on your tastes. I personally would rather buy a $10,000 car and put $20,000 into it making it faster, nicer, and different than any $30,000 car new from the dealership. I think there are a lot of people who would agree with me.
I know people who buy $20,000-35,000 corvettes, cobras, and supras with less than $25,000 in modifications that will outrun ANY $75,000 porsche or viper.
