GenSport Carolinas was started last year with a primary goal of creating opportunities for owners to network socially and explore performance driving environments both competitive and simply for fun.



The Tail of The Dragon is one of North America's most well-known motorcycle and sports car roads. This stretch of highway contains 318 turns in just over 11 miles with no cross-streets. Thousands of drivers come from all over North America and beyond to drive this road every year. The road is covered with professional photographers and nice rides.



On October 4th - 7th, we'll have our 3rd Annual Fall Run of The Dragon and would love for each of you to join us. We're all staying at Fontana Village which is nicely located at the start of Hellbender (another nice road) that takes us to The Dragon.







Tail of the Dragon



We had a great trip in the Spring with a tone of driving on some new roads around the area of the Dragon. Those of you that drove on the Devil's Triangle can attest to the great fun we had. We also had participation from G&M locally and SFR and Invision contributed merchandise for raffle. We hope to see G&M, Invision and SFR at the Fall event. We are reaching out to additional Gencoupe vendors and will keep everyone posted if additional vendors will be able to participate.



We had people come from all corners east of the Mississppi, Florida, Carolinas, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, New Jersey and probably some others as well. We have already seen increased interest from the "yankees" up in the mid-Atlantic area and hope that we can get some more participation from our friends in the north.



Event Registration Form Coming Soon:



As we continue to try to provide the best experience for this event, we are alsways looking for feedback from the participants as to what they would like to see at the event. We will be posting a registration form soon that we ask all attendees to complete. This form contains contact information as well as some basic questions to coordinate the activities of the event. We also ask for a minor fee for registration to help cover the administrative costs associated with the event. We will be once again offering t-shirts for the event and a separate thread will be started soon to discuss the design of the shirts.

Lodging Group Rate Now Available:



We will once again be staying at the Fontana Village Resort. Fontana offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cabins as well as lodge rooms. We will once again be sharing this trip with the Chysler Crossfire group. They are a great group and we have had a great time sharing the road with them the last few trips.



Additional cabins and lodge rooms will be released for our use if not filled by the other groups staying at Fontana as we get closer to the date of the trip.

A few things to note:
  • Make sure to mention that you are part of the "Gen Coupe" group when calling to make reservations
  • The deadline to reserve a room under the group rate is 8/4/2012
  • Reservations require the first night to be paid in full at the time the reservation is made
  • The remainder of the balance will be due at checkout
  • A military discount of 10% is available but cannot be added on top of the group rates
  • Most cabins have various couches and some have sofa beds. We encourage people to bunk up to split the cost of the cabin.

Bump! I see there's 57 confirmed attendees on the fb page. Let's get an update on vendors that have confirmed they're coming for the ha.org members who aren't on the fb event page.

Vendors who have said they will attend include BTRcc, Invision Automotion, SixSpeed Graphix (all are vendors here).



Seoulful Racing (SFR) didn't make it in the Spring because of problems with their car, but they have said they plan to attend this year.



BTRcc will be offering canned tunes at a discounted price, but you must order before the event. They will be delivered at the event, already tuned to your request, so all they have to do is pop in the new ECU and you're good to go. You will retain your OEM ECU. You must attend to get the discount.



People are still signing up. The FB event list is already at 59 attending. This will be the biggest event yet. We will have people coming from Texas and Florida again, and it sounds like some Canadians will be dropping down from Toronto. A caravan needs to happen from the northeast and from Florida!!





I also recommend that people arrive Thursday night. We'll start Dragon runs at sunrise, then meet for breakfast at Deals Gap before heading out for more driving adventure beyond the Dragon (Devil's Triangle, Cherohala Skyway, etc). Friday is the best driving day, because most people are at work and the roads are clear. Saturday is still fun, but more tourists and leaf watchers appear. Everyone will start parting ways early Sunday morning.

BTRcc has stated they'll offer canned tunes at 10% off. This includes a spare ECU that will be programmed prior to arriving, so it's as easy as plug-n-play in only a minute. You'll retain the OEM ECU for any potential warranty purposes.

IMPORTANT UPDATE


We have over 90 people registered on the Facebook page for the Fall event!



Does this mean we have 90 cars committed? 90 people, including passengers? How many t-shirts do we order?! How do we organize the drives and split group sizes with leaders to ensure everyone gets a good experience? How many Genesis Lanyards will we need?! WE DON'T KNOW!!!



That's why we need those attending to do something extra for us. Please visit The GenSport Carolinas webpage and click the Dragon Registration button at the bottom. Input your information into the form so we can get Genesis lanyards ordered for you, and let us know if we need to include you for reservations at the restaurant on-site. We simply need to tell them how many to expect - the food is on you.
