Yeah, same here. Hell, my car will be mostly raw fiberglass on the inside right now. I am borrowing it back from the shop mid-completion of my setup being built right now. Hell, I may not even have audio in the car for the meet, lol.

One of these days I'm going to set my alarm, get up really darn early and bump this thread before you do. Which desert are you currently in anyways? Is this set up for when you get back on R&R?

I'm in a little place called Qatar. Over by Saudi. I make trips in and out of Afghanistan and Iraq though. And yeah, this is actually set up for when me and my brother BOTH take R&R (he's in Afghanistan)

Yeah...see....that's everyones misconception though. There IS a post set up for that, which is where you were. I, on the other hand, am on another base. This base has had a guy come up spraying off an AK-47, just to tell you one thing about it. It feels "safe", but it's not as safe as you'd think. And we don't get to do all the "R&R" stuff either. We get stupid gay restrictions.

I wasn't there... I spent 425 days straight in Iraq durring OIF1 and OIF2 man. I never got to leave.

When I say "we" i meant soldiers went there while I was there. My biggest thrill was eating at a Burger King in Baghdad.

We have a BK, Pizza Hut, DQ, and Subway here. But I'm a vegetarian, so they don't really matter to me too much. But it's not too bad, like I said. It is better than "other" places, but it still sucks being here. Most of the suck of being deployed ANYWHERE is just being away from certain things. You get used to all the craziness around you.

Yeah, I had tons of french vanilla coffee creamer sent to me while I was there, it was what pulled me through. It gave me a reason to wake up in the morning. I know exactally what you're going through. It sucks, there's no real getaway or entertainment. Everyone's doing the same things. So when you come back on R&R how long are you going to have left before you are done overseas?

I'm at my 6 month mark right now. After this, I am going to Hawaii smile.gif It still sucks though....I've been away from the states for 4 years now, and have the rest of this year, and then 3 in Hawaii. I'm just ready to get back the the great 48, lol
