WA Tiburons in Tiburon, CA
Tiburons in Tiburon
What: Multi day road trip from Olympia, WA to Tiburon CA
When: Departing Saturday, October 1st, returning Wednesday, October 5th
Why: Duh. We HAVE Tiburons! And there's a city with the same name!
Link to Facebook event. Private event so if you want an invite let me know.
Itinerary:
Leave Olympia, WA Saturday (Oct. 1st) morning.
Drive down to Oregon on I-5, then head over to coast highway and continue south to Arcata, CA.
Sunday (Oct. 2nd) leave Arcata on CA-299 headed to Redding. Take I-5 to Tiburon, CA.
Stay Sunday night thru Tuesday night (Oct. 2nd-Oct. 4th) enjoying Tiburon and San Francisco.
Wednesday morning (Oct. 5th) head back to Olympia via I-5.
We will see the redwoods in northern CA, and drive across CA-299. This is (for my money) the best driving road I've ever had the pleasure of traveling on. Ample passing zones, including zones actually in some of the curvy areas.
Other Hyundais/Kias welcome!

That is cool! I just want to add: The Hyundai Tiburon was designed (HCDIII) in partnership with design students in the San Francisco Academy of Art University, right across the harbor of Tiburon, CA (fishing port city). No doubt that is where the U.S. name originated, so it should be something special.

Yeah, I've wanted to do this for years, finally getting it together. Cross posted all over so don't be afraid if any one place seems to be low in interest.

Yeah. A friend of mine already made the trip. You can see the Golden Gate bridge from Tiburon. It should be a lot of fun. Although this is an ambitious meet for sure.

This was a lot of fun. Met up with Hotblue02. I have tons of pictures to post. I will probably be able to get some posted tonight.

Had a good time with Floyd, his wife Stacy and the young hotness Alyssa that they brought along. Somehow they all managed to avoid bay area traffic until we met up on sunday and cruzed back into frisco... then the fun began. Floyd is just as awesome in person as he is over the net and after 8 or so years it was great to meet in person, throw back some beers and play some pool... looking forward to kickin it with you again bro!

I agree Rob! It was great to meet up after 8 years of internet BS'ing. I've already been thinking of excuses to head down that way. If you're ever up this way my couch is always open.
Now, onto the picture overload!
As it turned out, it was only one Tiburon. We did make the drive with our Tiburon owning friend Alyssa riding along though so it was almost as good as having two Tibs. We also met up with Hotblue02, and I will say his Accent is great in person. Beautifully done. Plus Rob is awesome!
We made it!

Alcatraz
I was surprised to see how much of San Francisco was actually built like this.

CA-299 is a great driving road, unfortunately it was raining pretty badly and the road was very slick. In the first corner I almost went off the road, it was like driving on ice. I slowed down and it was a fun but slow cruise through the mountains. This guy wasn't so lucky.
Stopped and took some shots as the sun was setting in northern California.
Some shots along the Oregon coast.
Took a tumble down a hill lol.
Stopped and took a tour of the Prehistoric Garden, a trail with a bunch of life sized fiberglass dinosaurs. Always good for a laugh.
The wife has a phobia of birds. Getting her to turn her back on this one for a picture was no easy task.
