Well, I've wanted to arrange this for a while, too bad I don't live right across from the concert area anymore, lol.
We have a huge week long event every July 4 week. This year it is from June 26-July 6. 11 days of concerts. No names yet announced, but last year we had Daughtry, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, BB King, Cars, George Thorogood, & Rodney Atkins. Eleven day passes are usually about $100. Single ticket dates about $25-$35. Summer Celebration
There is also a huge arts and crafts fair downtown the weekend of the fourth.
That week is also a first here, July 3-6 I believe. ROTHBURY festival. Four days of nonstop concerts music festival, featuring Dave Mathews Band and Snoop Dog, among MANY other acts. $245 for a full pass, no single day passes. About half an hour north at a nice resort. Rothbury
And, the following week is a new event, 2nd annual Bike Time. Thousands of bikes flood our downtown, with Tons of events. Bike Time
There is also a small car show right in front of my old apartment building downtown on June 23rd. GreatLakesTib entered his car for about 3 years in a row. No tib last year though. It would be a blast if we got 5-6 tibs in it. People would be like, what the hell are all these cars? lol.
We could plan a couple lakeside drives, one with decent photo ops that would last about an hour, and one that could take us to Traverse City with some great photo ops along the way, trekking out to mission point peninsula. That would be about 2.5 hours one way. Another option would be to only go as far north as Manistee and go gambling, about 1.5 hours one way, same route. Feeling brave? How about a trip all the way up to the Big Mac? Never even done that yet myself. About 4 hours one way.
Let me know if there would be any interest setting this up. Plenty of things to do, and we could set up a couple different weekends if people like.
