<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(iheartmyredcar @ Aug 28 2009, 12:56 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'>holy crap i wish i would have known that it was in park city! thats 35 minutes from my house!!!</div>

yep I was up at park city twice this year. I was at the farm show in harrisburg last weekend. unfortunately I don't think i'm going to be doing any more events in central pa this year. The susquehanna scca is a good group of racers i'm definately going to be racing with them more in the future. An old friend of mine has been bugging me to come up and race with him at one of the philly scca events so I might try to fit one of those in before the end of the year. Check the schedule at the beginning of the post for updates.

in the next few days i'll have some more pics and videos from the last 2 events.

i probably won't auto-x for a few reasons with my car being a DD, having new alignment, tires, bushings ...etc. but i'd be down for a little hyundai meets!

way to rep mr.autox. the first gen accents look great. you should beta swap and throw a little turbo in there if you have big plans. a buddy of mine in MD is selling his and it would be nice to see it put to good use: http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtop...hl=accent+turbo

I autocrossed my daily driver for a full season and had a blast. Its not the car that you drive its just driving that matters. If your car is in good mechanical shape you can autocross it. The wear and tear from autoxing is slim to none if your only doing a few events. Until you try it you don't know what your missing.

when I bought the car it was turbocharged and I got fed up with it. I loved the extra power but without a proper differential it was a one wheel burnout champ which is a huge disadvantage on an autox course. I am happy where i'm at now in fsp. I played in street mod all of last year and realized I would never be able to compete even with more power. A turbo/beta accent would still be a huge underdog compared to the engine swapped civics, evos, and stis. There just isn't enough aftermarket to be competitive in the higher up classes. To tell you the truth, I am still suprised at how well i've done this year in street prepared.

Feel free to come out to any of the local autocrosses and just hang out. If you come to one of the fedex field events, just sign the waver at the gate so I can give you a ride along. I still have 2 events there this year. I am doing a test and tune in frederick next weekend with capitaldrivingclub. Its a lot more laid back event with 10+ runs and lots of time to hang out and they also allow ride alongs. The more the merrier.

are they narrowed down to classes? because some of those engine swapped hondas are really serious cars. that's pretty much the reason i kept my car N/A is because no LSD and no patience to deal with engine/tuning problems. and if i do run a turbo setup, it will have to be done with a fully built engine, not half ass.

if i don't have any interference this weekend, i will likely try and make it up there. what day are you going to be there? how many cars usually show up? does it cost anything to hang around?

anybody else want to come up for a chat?

to answer your first question yes all the scca events are class based. I race in f street prepared.

This class allows:
basic suspension mods and whatever alignment you can get from those mods,
basic bolt ons(anything up to the motor on the intake side and everything down stream of the motor on the exhaust side) plus pulleys(cam and crank), any engine management and your allowed to remove any emissions related parts
minor internal work of the motor(porting of the head an inch in and minor tolerance overbores and head milling and balancing of the rotating assembly)
any wheel and tire as long as the tire is dot legal(my hoosier a6s are the limit)

that is the gist of it, the rules for street prepared are quite a few pages long
if your curious about the different classes you can download the rulebook from www.scca.com

motor swapped civics get put into street modified which allows same manufacturer motor swaps and forced induction as well as light weight body pannels. It has been dominated by evos and m3s for the past couple of years at solo2 nationals.

To answer your 2nd question, I am racing this sunday the 6th all day at harry grove stadium in frederick. I am in the first heat so I will have runs in the morning probably around 9-10 and i'll have afternoon runs around 1-2. It doesn't cost anything to show up and hang out. There should be 45-50 cars for the test and tune ranging from stock miatas to highly modified subarus and evos. There is a nice hill to sit on to watch the course. There are 2 parking lots. The upper(main lot) of the stadium is where everyone parks. We race in the lower(back lot) which will be coned off. If you want more info email me ascort@email.com and I can give you my cell #.

Looks like a great time. Thanks for posting all those videos. smile.gif

I finally went out again yesterday. I was pretty rusty but I really like what the rear sway did for the handling.

good to hear you got back out racing

my season is coming to a close. I just finished up with wdcr-scca this past weekend I am now the new fsp class champion woot woot smile.gif I have another race in cumberland, i'm driving gimp's bimmer again which should be fun. Then I have a race in november about 15 minutes from my house. I am not going to make the events in philly or norfolk. Unfortunately taking the title sunday cost me another motor. No more racing for the x3 this year. Time for some major overhauling. I still have a ton more pictures to post up and i'll put up a season recap of some sorts. till then enjoy the videos.

Sorry to hear about the motor. My ticking issue didn't reappear this race, but it was a power course so I'm not too surprised.
