Dave, my friend Damon (Enthalpy) has a chassisear that we've been using to help street tune my car, as well as a wideband obviously. Probably the next best thing to getting to the dyno, BUT MUCHO cheaper. I've been ragging him the last few days to help me get my car done. Maybe he can help you with yours. Two tuners in the same car should get the job done twice as fast, no??? LOL!

If you are interested, I'll see if he'd be up for it. Would probably only cost you a trip up north and buying the guy some dinner and a case of beer. He may also come out to the meet. I'm working on that!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (dmdicks @ Aug 26 2009, 07:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I actually have 3 helmets including my wifes, but its pretty small. I'll bring them all with me.

Tom, I have a giant plastic 5 gallon fuel holder I'll bring to fill up. As long as I fill up on the way to the track that should be good enough.

Redz, are we meeting at the track or somewhere before hand? I'm trying to plot my trips with going through the only E85 station near me.

I'm also working on getting a usable 91 octane tune....just don't have time or cash for dyno time to get it perfect.</div>

Well, we are getting the track on Sunday, so yeah, we are meeting at my place on Friday night and Saturday. LOL Sunday we can convoy up and hit the gas station first, I think the e-85 one has race gas too if anyone wants it. Don't remember.

I figured we can do the track, cruise up Route 66, and then go do the BBQ.

Okay, just got off the phone with a local friend of mine that does the road course we are looking at quite a bit. He says there is no "standard" that the track goes by, they don't even inspect the helmets, they just want you to have one. Individual racing groups are different, but almost all in NM accept Snell M rated helmets as long as they are 95 or newer, but for best chances, get a 2000 or 2005 rated helmet of M or SA.

He will probably be joining us in his Mazda for most of the meet BTW.

I'm going to go ahead and order my helmet, the largest size they have, and if I don't like it I'll sell it after the meet.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>What is a snell rating?
Helmets meeting Snell Standards provide the highest level of protection available. Snell Standards significantly surpass those set by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission's 16 CFR Part 1203. In order to continuously monitor the quality of helmets being sold to the public, Snell purchases and tests samples of currently certified helmets from the marketplace. These helmets are tested only in Snell labs by Snell technicians. Should a currently certified helmet fail, the helmet manufacturer must take corrective action to Snell's satisfaction.

What are the differences between snell SA and snell M standards?
SA Standard was designed for auto racing while M Standard was for motorcycling and other motorsports. There are three major differences between them

SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not;
SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets may not be street legal);
SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
How do I know which motorcycle helmet is the best one for me?
If you are concerned about road noise, Shoei helmets have high-quality liners that absorb much of the low frequency road noise. If you want the most advanced or highest quality, choose a Simpson or Shoei motorcycle helmet.

If you are looking for a comfortable helmet in a lower price range, HJC and Nolan have made names for themselves in this market by proving quality helmets at lower prices.

How do I know which automotive helmet is best for me?
Simpson makes extremely lightweight helmets out of carbon fiber T-38. They have a long-standing relationship with racers in every type of motorsport.

For the budget racer, we are now offering Pyrotect, which is snell certified and very affordable.</div>

Some good prices for helmets on that site too, if I decide I want to do this more in the future, maybe I'll pick one up from them.

You are still welcome to stay with us man. My address won't show up on any of the mapping services yet, it's too new unfortunately. Look for the hotels in Los Lunas NM, 87031, that are near I-25 and Hwy 6/Main Street. Dmdicks is staying at the Days Inn.
