some cats actually do have an air tube if you nock the cap off it should be a hollow tubew that dumps into the cat. for air flow to mix with the left gasses was done on some of the older v6 and v8 to try to create cleaner emissions.

mine was definatly solid, ive never heard of anything like that, it doesnt make sense, blowing air with the exhaust gasses wont make cleaner emissions, because it would just mix with 1000000 times that amount of air as soon as it hits the end of the tailpipe.

this is on par with muffler belts, what is it with the exhuast that spawns these mystical car parts?

did you guys read my post before you posted? try to read all the posts in a thread before you post, and since this is yamaha's thread about his turbo kit that he bought; lets try and stay somewhat on topic

Whens this gonna go on yamaha?

There are three basic types of automotive catalytic converters: Two-Way, Three-Way and Three-Way+Air. Each type uses a slightly different method and chemistry to reduce the harmful elements in exhaust emissions. Early model converters used a pelletized catalyst, but most modern converters are now designed with a free-flowing honeycomb ceramic catalyst. The type of converter required on a particular vehicle varies with model year, engine size and vehicle weight. Some vehicles use more than one type of converter to meet emission reduction standards

Three-Way+Air
Reduction/Oxidation Converter
A Three-Way+Air converter performs the same function as the Three-Way converter: It oxidizes and reduces. The difference is the addition of secondary air between the two internal catalyst substrates that improves the oxidation capabilities of the converter. The secondary air is pumped into the middle of the converter between the two separate catalyst substrates. The front performs the reduction and the back ceramic performs the oxidation. It's like having two converters in one.

hyper is right. do some searching on cats with air tubes. done with the cat conversation though, start up one if you want.


lookin really nice yamaha. 200whp will be tough though with the t25.

Im sure I will be able to reach 200whp, just a question of how much psi it will take.

I said ive never seen it and it doesnt make sense to me, which i hadnt and it didnt. Now i see what they are saying about cats that use tubes like that

but again, im sure yamaha doesnt want his thread turned in to an OT piece of garbage over the possibility of using a catalytic converter in a different way than he has already expressed he was going to use it.
