intresting choice, log style, internally gated, and by the looks of the compressor outlet your routing the pipes oddly

you wont need that glasspack, unless you want it really quiet or dont plan on using a muffler.

what do you plan on boosting? im guessing not crazy numbers by the looks of the setup?

The setup will be intercooled. Routing the piping will be the most important part. I want the glasspack to keep the car quiet, nobody expects mcuh form a J2. Im looking for 200whp.

hey... those look like my stuff!!! how'd you get it cool.gif

by the way, i have sent you more smt-6 info in your pm and the wiring diagrams on your email

1. if you have not got the chance yet... get your manifold rewelded for strength (mine cracked in 2 places after 4 months). The welds attaching to the exhaust manifold flange should be fine, if cost is an issue

2. you can cut the bolts that runs on turbo flange... next time it won't be a b*tch to put the nut in when bolting up the turbo

3. (i can't really see from the pics, but) you might have to spin the turbo (the oil feed/line out pointing straight down, gravity is your friend and the name of the game here). Once you do the spineroo... that wastegate actuator might have to be "rigged or installed" in a way that it won't hit the coolant line traversing the front of the block, this is the bad thing with a log style manifold and an internally wastegated turbo

Does the LM-1 wideband come with a controller? if not were you planning to have the smt-6 read your afrs?

Jay,

That manifold will not break, and everything has been clocked, and the wastegate was set in it's proper place, so all he has to do is bolt it up. cool.gif

Sean get that installed I want to see what that T25 will do!!!

Where does the line to the wastegate come from?

The turbo?

CB, its internally gated, the wastegate and the turbo are integrated. its common on stock turbos since its cheaper but isnt the best for performance since the exhaust gas coming out the wastegate port will create turbulance at the turbine outlet, and it isnt usually seen on high boost applications.

anyway

but what about the charge piping routing? it seems like pointing the compressor outlet toward the drivers side is shooting yourself in the foot as you will have to throw an additional ] bend in there to get back to the passenger side in order for the fmic to flow across the bumper from left to right and then bend back up to go up to the throttle body.

It will add total 2 extra unneeded 90 degree turns and about say at least another 2 feet of piping that will equate to a volume of approximately

(2)(Pi)(1")(24") (assuming 2" charge piping)

150 cubic inches of volume of piping that the turbo needs to fill everytime you boost. thats ~2.5L of air that needs to be filled, not a terrible amount, but it just seems unneeded to me, and the restriction doesnt help.

i was just wondering if there was a reason for the extra volume and restriction?

That is what I just told Sean (yamaha) in another thread. His intercooler is big too. it will have to make a U bend and go across the whole engine bay, instead of strait down.

Why is there a nipple on the actuator. I don't see where it could read psi from.....

you can run a vacuum line from the manifold to the wastegate actuator since there is no compressor nipple, it makes no difference. itll actually be better for performance for the wastegate to open when the manifold pressure equals the wastegate setting since the wastegate setting wont be affected by loss in pressure caused by the FMIC, piping, and TB.

BUT a big leak would prevent the wastegate from opening and could overspin the turbo, but nothing can be all good lol

Hey is that the real hks or the knock off blow off valve?, i got the knock off from speed factor kit .. it blows litterally it leaks even with the screw tightend down, they had a right up about it in modified mag they were testing the knock off verse the real and the spring in the knock off is smaller and alot more brittle the rubber inside is way cheaper its about 10x thinner and looks like it was made from a bicycle patch, there just not the same at all i replaced mine with the turbo xs RFL but just a thought and lookin out, its a nice setup cant wait to see it finished.... if its the real deal its awsome and love the sound of it if its knock off id use it as a hood orniment for your beater fing02.gif all aside good job looks nice
