Wideband Question

ok i am going to need a wideband here really soon. I was wondering, can I buy the bosch wideband O2 sensor and hook it up to a regular a/f gauge and have it be accurate? i know it wouldnt have the logging capabilities and digital readout or anything but would it work? this may be a dumb question but someone just let me know. and if it wont work, why not?

No it wont work.
The point of a wide band is to accurately show your air fuel ratio so you can tune the fuel to a desirable and safe air fuel ratio.
Pick up a PLX or AEM with display you will be glad you did. fing02.gif

If Your looking for a cheaper Alternative it would probably be the INNOVATE MOTORSPORTS LC-1 WIDEBAND O2. Most stand alone ECU's will accept a wideband and you will be able to display, log, etc the air fuel ratio threw the ECU. Or you just run the display on a Laptop. I believe they sell in the price range of $160-$180

Also the AEM is less than 300, i got mine for 260.
And about getting a cheaper alternative, a wideband is the sort of mod that is so helpful that youll appreciate the ability to watch your afr all the time that youll feel that every penny was very well spent, because it was.
its probably the best thing you can buy for your turbo tib.

I know this is the most important thing that you need to buy, especially if you are doing the tuning yourself
and it is good if you are not...just so you know if you are running to rich or lean while you are daily driving...
Also, does you state have a car website for the entire state...because Virginia does (VAdriven.com) and you would be able to track one down, if your state did..
On ebay do a search for the NGK wideband, i think its no more then 240 shipped...My friend has one in his SRT-4 and he loves it
