What non-engine work do you need after turbo?

Default What non-engine work do you need after turbo?

I'm planning on purchasing the last of my turbo parts in a few weeks, but before I do what would be a good upgrade to get so that I can actualy drive the car with turbo and not go flying off of the road?

I'm thinking better brakes would be good for sure, but should I get those before a racing clutch?. I already have wider rims and with performance tires, so hopefully that'll solve some traction problems, but then I remember reading somewhere about getting LSD to help as well.

So the order will be:
Racing Clutch (have a stage 1 now but thinking a stage 2 or 3 will be better)
Bigger Brakes?
Suspension stuff (have coil overs and struts now)
LSD?

Good thing you upgraded your springs and struts with something better. The extra power that turbo is going to deliver is going to make wheel hop and wheel spin a major problem.

Front and rear Strut tower bars, front and rear sway bars, and front and rear under tie bars.

Poly suspension bushings and poly motor mounts as well.

Upgrades axles/cv joints would be a good thing. Upgraded brakes and pads would also be good too.

A bevy of gauges would help once you get the turbo installed. Water temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Air/Fuel ratio (better to get a wideband), and of course a boost gauge. If you wanna go nuts with gauges...EGT or CHT would be good.

Exhaust should be replaced with 2.5" or 3", most likely 3".

That should take car of just about everything to get you started and running. You may find other things you want later, but that's a good start.

Things to do later..if you so choose.

Pretty much everything Visonz said, but also a fuel tuner if you dont already have one. 3" exhaust would be better since your going F/I, 2.5 is best suited for N/a. But IMO if you dont have a tuner dont bother putting the kit on until you do and dont go anywhere near full throttle until it gets properly tuned. We would hate to see your hard work go away in minutes. G/l with the install, post pics with how she turns out!

That depends on how much power you are putting down. A wider tire doesn't help as much as you think. Since the bulk of the weight is held up by air pressure you change the contact patches shape, but the overall size remains relatively the same unless you drastically change the size of the tire. However, the type of rubber helps for sure. If your putting down alot of power the suspension is going to come into play big time. I see you have coil overs and struts? Would those be the 50 dollar ebay adjustable springs? If so you might want to throw down some money on real coilovers like Ksport.

I remember reading somewhere about getting LSD to help as well.

If you stay with the open diff and one tires starts to slip.. all of your power will head to that already spinning tire. The LSD balances that out, but it is also a huge PITA to install on a FWD car.

Here is what I would do.

Fuel system - make 150% sure that it is going to handle the boost
Clutch

(not sure what that stage crap your talking about is -sorry that annoys me-, make sure the clutch can handle more torque than your going to throw at it and throw that stage talk out the window. Real clutch companies, ACT etc. can quote you the torque rating. Not the Gran Turismo stage wtf stuff)
Suspension - Real Coilovers
Brakes

(what type or racing are you going to be doing? If it is drag.. keep it here on the list, road course move it up under fuel system. If you goto a real track you have plenty of room to slow down, your not going to be that fast. However something that can deal with heat a little better never hurts)
