Neal, if you go to www.kspec.com, they have hollow boost tuned cams. They're expensive as all hell BUT if you've got the money then get them. You will understand why after you install them. I'm pretty sure that's why you're suggested to keep your exhaust rather constrained is to keep the boost from blowing out of the combustion chamber. If you'd do these cams, I wouldn't see any problem with getting some nice free flowing exhaust as the cams promote INTERNAL back pressure to help the boost build up. "Down grading" to ANY hyundai OEM cam won't help your valve overlap as they are all designed to be naturally aspirated. I understand if you don't have the money, then go the inexpensive route but if you do have the money, trust me, get the cams.

I filed a groove in my strut bar to give more clearance around the pulley. However, since the s/c has been making the full 200 horses it moves around more and the s/c unit itself is making contact with the strut bar. I am planning on raising the brackets up using some washers etc.

Although like techontib my bar is sitting in the house looking all shiny. Its a job I'm hopefully going to do one night this week.

Crap. Well they at least WERE selling tigerlilly's stuff but they don't seem to be on their site as of now. Here is the normal link for what Tigerlilly was under if they get them back up. http://www.kspec.com/main.php?ac_id=13

QUOTE
Random:
I've shown them 4 different headers (HVE, 2 from SR, and RPW), and they did not think any of them would be a good match for the SC.
Do you have any experience with RPW's non-race 4-1 header? Ballrub claims that the runners should be fairly short - hence the RPW race headers are out. Are there any other headers out there for the beta?

you could always grab the rpw/hve headers and chop them
shorter.
the 4 runners come together about halfway down, you could cut them
and weld a new collector on.

Bryfx- I was just thinking about this last night. I'm going to call RPW and see if they can do that

What was recommended by Alpine was a 4-2-1 design with short runners. The RPW's were really long 4-1 design I probably would of gained alot of of HP but would gain little in trq. Most ofit would of been high end as well.

I just got off the phone with Dave at RPW - man I love talking to that guy. He suggested that I go with the race headers and switch to supercharger optimized cams. It so happens that they can provide those for me. smile.gif

I guess the other logistical considerations I need to have clarified are:

1) How much power is the stock fuel pump good for? Alpine is talking about a RRFPR with their kit, but even if the pressure is increased, is the pump the limiting factor, or the injectors

2) What is the stock clutch good for in terms of power.

The stock clutch isn't good past 220-240whp but I would still suggest to replace it. My car doesn't have nearly that and it can still be tempormental. I believe the fuel pump is slightly more your limiter then your injectors but to replace just one could be a waste. You should really replace none or both. If you spend $250 on the Walbro fuel pump (CNK) and no injectors then the fuel pump won't benefit you a whole bunch. Get some 440cc injectors or something to compliment the fuel pump. I don't think the 440cc are too much. You should ask someone that's all ready bought them and where from but I think they're only around $200-$250 or something. Let me know how the RPW cams do ya' as if Tigerlilly will not sell through kspec anymore then I'll have to find a different place to get cams for the upcoming turbo project.
