Default vacuum. lines

Okay so after doing all of this research for thee future turbo project on the tibby.. I run into another problem. I thought you can get a vacuum source off of the brake booster.. is that wrong? I've heard so. And where are you guys using a vacuum source from?

Yes and no. What are you using a boost gauge or BOV? Many turbo cars have a check valve so that the brake booster never sees boost. As long as you tap before the valve you should be fine.....but generally brake booster lines are thick (like .25" or 3/8")/ And finding a "T" with an adaptor that down sizes to a a more reasonable 1/8" or 3/16" can be difficult.

AFIAK, the only "do not use" source would be the fuel/evap system line. I don't see why anything else can't be tapped, just make sure it is before CVs if they have them.

If you want to get a consistent and certain vacuum signal, get it from the intake manifold.

Well yea lol, I guess this was an assumption I was making that this is where they would tap from? As manay brake boosters and evap sytems use the IM for their vacuum, all he would be diong is tapping before it, AKA tapping the IM without actually having to drill into it and tap it or weld a barb to it. But on a boosted car, IM gets boost, so they have CVs to prevent boost from reaching those sources.

I T'ed off on the brake booster line, just before the one way valve. Its a big heavy line and is a direct shot off the intake manifold. From there I go to a distribution block that sits on the firewall.

Mine is about half down in the tubing. Not on any particular end. Just make sure to cut a few inches on the intake side to install your T.
