S-AFC2 can be used to swap from MAF to MAP and vice versa.

Well, the ECU swap is pretty easy. Essentially it becomes a korean tiburon running a MAP and a easily tunable ECU(in korea). The only issue is passing emissions in the states. Has anyone actually done the swap and tried to pass emissions? Everyone says that it will fail, but what if it passes? Korean spec cars ALSO have OBD-II sensors although I haven't checked the compatibility between US and korean versions.

Here's the latest update. It looks like Korean ECUs won't be an option for us. Even though they have OBD-II in Korean spec cars, it runs on a different program. Looks like we'd never pass emissions with a korean ECU. 02.gif

QUOTE (2race4real @ Feb 11 2005, 07:46 PM)
QUOTE (Airborne)
Just to clarify, Korean spec cars started using the Siemens in their 3G tiburons(tuscanis)? Is that the same for US spec ECUs? I've got a 2001 tiburon(US) and I'm trying to determine which ECU it has so I can bring it to David or another korea shop to see what they can do. Am I going to have an 8bit eprom or a 16bit Siemens?
Also, what are the differences between US and korean ECUs? It looks like the pins and the harness are the same...
2race4real, are you in korea right now?

Korean used Siemens from 96 Tiburon, 99 Turbulence, but Tuscani has 16bit new Siemens ecu.
If you are in Taegu area, please visit www.dtmspeed.com where I import my VHR from. The owner also work very closely with REAL KOREA, so please visit them at your convinience.
They have a employee who speak English, if you don't speak Korean.
Alz99 Other than USA and Canada for RD's, most other countries we know uses same ecu as Korean spec.
Korean GK I4 Siemens ecu

Korean RD1 and RD2 Siemens ecu

Korean Scoupe Turbo Bosch ecu

Korean Accent Kefico ecu

ahh then you know mr, Tae and guess what brother i am the english speaking person i have know him for 9 years now good man here is his ## 053-471-1991

Why couldn't we use their ECU's then swap to stock for Emissions?

I was wondering about that too, REDZ.

Mad_john - I've been working with DTM for a few months now. They actually just got done working on my car.

REDZ- We can theoretically swap our GK ECUs(16bit siemens) with the korean version, but I don't think anyone's tested the compatibility. Can someone ship me a GK ECU from the states for cheap so I can test it over here? Anyone friends with someone who owns a junkyard?

If this works, it would involve everyone with an RD to rewire their engine harness to fit a GK ECU.

We can try to get you one man, but I've been told several times that the connections aren't the same and the readings from the sensors won't work.
