Hey, if willing.

I have a friend who is building a full race civic. I told him about your little turbo there and he seems a bit interested.

Would you give it up for $40 (he pays shipping) since you did buy it for $20 smile.gif

yeah dude, you have the wrong turbo for your tibby. I didn't even know it fitted smile.gif

get yourself a garret t2,t3 or t3/t4 or something in that area if you want to push some boost. The deisel might push 15psi of boost but if that is with a 8.0L or something then you'll never spool that baby on your 2.0L.

Rather get a smaller turbo and spool sooner. I'm not sure, but i think random's turbo spools around or just below 3k.

It doesn't matter, the compressor map for that thing is off the chart. Turbo diesel engines love boost, because they don't detonate in the same way a gasoline engine does. A turbo diesel engine running 3+ bar (44+psi) of boost is fairly common on the more powerful setups.

While this one probably didn't use that much positive pressure, it's still pretty obvious that running 4 liters of engine and at LEAST 15 pounds of boost is going to equate to a large beastly turbo.

Wrong turbo, period.

5.9 Liter Cummins TD @ 225HP & 450TQ. This turbo is setup to make torque, not HP. On this particular engine all the power is around 1500rpm. I wonder if that is why your guy sold the thing so cheap .... he found that it just ain't happening on such a small engine.

Or the guy found himself a sucker... no offense.

Turbo's do make torque, no matter what car they're on, however diesels just tend to make tons of it at insanely low rpms. the turbo itself could make lots of hp, however the setup around this turbo on the cummings ended up using the turbo to make LOTS of torque. This same turbo on a H22 could make 600+hp and equal amounts of torque if the motor is built sufficiently to handle the boost and was revving its lil heart out in order to spool it. Like I said, it just depends on whats around the turbo as to what effect it has on the engine's output. Diesels dont make horsepower, they make torque. Its also a 5.9L. Hence the relatively low hp figure with gobs of torque.

The amount of torque the original engine made isnt really relavent because its completely different than our little four bangers, outside of the fact it gives an idea of the potential of this turbo.

It also gives you the idea that this turbo is rather large... It was "safely" rated to produce 450 pounds of torque on a 5.9L engine, which means this puppy is "capable" of doing quite a bit more.
