Default Tireflys...your opinion

i have a 99 4cyl 2 liter autotragic

wondering how a turbo would affect my auto tranny, but i have heard that superchargers aren't that effective on RD1's?

i was seriously considering the supercharger or turbo, but i am wondering how the turbo would affect the auto tranny, and how the supercharger would perform because i've heard they aren't good on beta1s

some input/suggestions plz..

the problem is that no one makes a really good supercharger kit for us.

i suggest you do an auto to manual swap. ive read that it isnt hard at all, and is very cheap. ill try to find some instructions on it and post them.

You are reading, that's the first good sign my young padawan learner.

The RD's in general, the Beta engine, isn't SC friendly. You can put THOUSANDS into your SC and still barely get to 200 HP. Ask Xorro. I wanted to do a SC too at first, until I stuck around a bit and read alot.

As for the auto trany, you can get it upgraded by Level 10, or, in my opinion, your best bet is to do the Manual Swap. Costs around 500 to 700 bucks to do, and you'll never want to go back. With the stick, the Beta 1 kicks ass.

No, the SC still BLOWS with the Beta series in general, but it's not worth it.

With a good deal of reading, listening and a handful of well thought out questions, you can build your own turbo kit for a decent price. You will be fine with the auto, up to a point. You will eventually need your torque converter upgraded, or just switch to a manual. I suggest the latter.

With all of his questions about turbos in this post and his other one, I'm suprized no one has told him to read Maximum Boost yet.

I have Maximum Boost, and I have read it many times. I personally don't find it to be the 'holy grail' of turbo books that others seem to. It is a good book with good info, but, there is a lot more needed to even begin to build a turbo kit. I have found maximum boost to be much more worthwhile after reading a number of other books and online sources.

I think that for most of our members, it would be a bit more beneficial if they were to more fully understand the wokings of an IC engine. After that, moving on to the systems such as fueling and air intake and exhaust systems would be easier, make more sense, and there would be less questions.
