As some of you already know, Im currently building up my turbo project which will probably be done in late january. I was talking to a buddy of mine locally that at one time had a high 12 second turboed neon (not srt4) and he was asking about my setup and disagreed with it on one point; he said it wouldnt be safe to run more than 5-6 psi while using only an fmu... I could swear Ive read on here that we could safely do 8psi, maybe even 9. I was planning on running 8psi but now I question it. what you guys think?

My setup:

small garett t3 .42 ar
31" intercooler
dsm 1g bov
re-enforced obx mani
gsx fuel pump
vortech fmu

so basically, will I be fine to run 8 psi at stock compression with just the fmu and fuel pump? Thanks

8 is low enough that stock compression is fine D, at least i think...

but can anyone else help me? Whats the main advantage to using a fpr as opposed to an fmu? I thought the stock fpr was fine as long as I had a bigger pump. Please let me know

Well I can only give my experience....

First year with turbo,

I ran 440cc injectors, walbro pump, AEM FPR with SAFC2 for tunning. That didn't work ECU kept leaning out the tune.

So I decided to try stock injectors, with a FMU it worked fine for 9 psi but the ecu learned what was going on and eventually leaned that out.

I got sick of trying to find out how/why the computer was leaning me out and bought a Haltech.

So what are you to do?
Either try the extra injector thing or get a standalone.

which thing is the "extra injector thing"?? like the 5th injector or whatever that the alpine kit does...?

the friend I mentioned in the first post is convinced that 8psi on stock injectors is "suicide"... Maybe our injectors are bigger than he thinks tho? Anyone else have experience with a setup anything like what I have been planning?

No I meant the extra injector thing as the emanage with 4 extra injectors But I still dont recondmend that just get the PrS4.

As for saying stock injectors should be fine for 8 psi. 8 psi on a T25 compared to a Gt35 is a huge difference.

I would say stock 2.0L injectors are good for 160-180WHP. I maybe be wrong don't really know but I do know I have lots of room to work with my 1000cc injectors fing02.gif

Ye, your running a fairly small turbo... 8PSI should be handled fine. I wouldn't go over 8PSI... but really I don't see a problem with it from what other members have posted.

Try and find the stock injector size and tell him if he still thinks that way... he'll probably change his mind.
