WTF is up with turbos and the bolts they come with? Why do manufacturers send you a turbo that rusts all to hell and bolts that are near impossible to remove? I've had a Garrett, a Turbonetics, and a hybrid. All of them were a PITA to take apart. I swear, this time I'm gonna weld a damn v-band on the exhaust, try to find some ARP bolts for the housings, and ceramic coat it all. These things cost way too much to turn ugly and rust in 3 years.

I coated my cast iron manifold and turbine husing with VHT Flameproof (but only on the outside). Still looks ok but I only had it for like 6 months.

I did that too, but it flakes off after a while. And the color dulls a lot.

i did the bake on VHT 2000F paint, and it lasted for the 2 years or so i had it.. it faded a bit, but didnt chip. But I still had the bolt problem, what a pain in the ass.

I really woulda thought they (especially Turbonetics) would have started using the SS casts by now so people didn't have the rusting problems, snapping off bolts, etc.

I've got a powder/ceramic coating company close by that does it cheap. So I'll have that covered. There's a fastener shop on the other side of town that I'll probably take some bolts to and have them match up. See what they have for the intense heat.
I know I could go with stainless for the rust, but I doubt that it would hold up to the heat, and it would most likely stretch under expansion.
