Well so far just for the turbo setup its cost me about $3200. Then I still have the emanage setup which is about $1100 and not to mention al of the other things I already did to the car. Anyway, I am sure I could have had this thing paid off already if I didnt want to play with it lol.

Its on the list for a little later. Just hard to justify an extra $500 or so right now with all the other cash going out ya know?

Wideband really isn't necessary unless you really want to tune the car yourself and tune it well. If you keep an eye on things and how they feel and listen to your engine, you can tell if your running too lean. Other gauges such as EGT can tell you just as well if your running too rich/lean as well. I personally wouldn't buy one unless your putting out big numbers... such as after you've redone your tranny, axles, and other miscellaneous things. At mid boost, you should be fine.

You can get one for $300 or so and I think that it's better to have a wideband of your own than going to dyno shops and pay money to get your car tuned...
If you decide to raise boost you will have to go to the dyno to get it retuned... you decide to add something, you need to get it retuned. And if you have a wideband you can tune it yourself.

Also imagine something failing.... one of the injectors or something... you get a kaboom! and if you have a wideband you would know what's happening!

If you get a turbo wideband is a must if you want your car to live and last! AFRs are so strict that you really want to keep an eye on them!

Thanks ham, thats what I thought too. I really dont plan on tuning this myself as I really trust a dyno tune by someone who knows what they are doing over a road tune. I'm sure the wide will be a purchase in the future, but probably like you said not until after I get to the high boost levels.

You get a kaboom! and wonder whats happening... thats when you pull over and see whats wrong. You can feel an injector fail when the car shudders and then you can hear the detonation after an injector fails, and if you stop right then... no harm is done. Injectors rarely fail anyway. Most injectors last for years and years and never go bad. They start getting worn if your pushing the pulse of the injector and pushing the capacity of the injector too much. A stock injector on a stock car or slightly modified one is unheard of. Even though you were using this as an example...

You can buy an EGT gauge and tell when your running lean. You can buy a fuel pressure gauge... if an injector fails or a leak develops, fuel pressure becomes extremely bouncy.

Road tuning is a horrible way to tune. The only people who road tune are those with the software of a dyno sitting in a laptop at their fingertips of a passenger, or those who think a wideband is going to give them a decent tune. The amount of gas you spend taking the car to higher RPMs for an hour trying to make it all level is equivalent to taking it to a dyno shop and getting it done right in four runs or less.
