Hi. 2 days ago while I was about ot go to sleep I finally decided that I was going turbocharged. Afetr doing the budget math I found I could spend about $1500 give or take a few hundred. here's what I was planning on getting:

-Stock 2g Eclipse manifold $90
-T25 w/ wastegate $170 Used
-Starion Polished intercooler $160 Used
-Piping,etc $200local
-1g crushed BOV $90
-SAFC $250 used
-450cc injectors $65 used
-Downpipe/exhaust $80 local
-Autometer Boost gauge $65 used
-greddy 60mm EGT $180

I already have Bosach FPR 2g eclipse fuel pump installed. ANY sugestions, comments, disagreements, whatever; please feel free to post. This is meant to be a BASE system, not a full blown max HP turbo monster system. It's just something to get started with and build upon in the future. suicide wiggle_m

OK, lets see:

I got the manifold for $50 shipped including the O2 housing. The T25 is a POS and a 14b from a 1st gen is much better. I just bought one for $125 shipped. Where are you getting the intercooler and injectors? That's a good price. You can pick me up those while your at it. wink The BOV you can get cheaper ($30) and uncrushed would be fine.

 

Damn, I can sell you my CNK bov brand new for $80 shipped.

how much boost do you plan on running? a t25 is a small turbo. have you read maximum boost? if not, i highly suggest you read it, especially before taking on a custom turbo project.

 

I am planning on running about 8psi max, but I forgot to post that I would be also buying a .90 copper head gasket to lower compression, however I havent found an online site that sells them. If I have the gasket I was planning on putting down max 15psi. I thought the T25 was a good turbo? I think it comes factory OEm on 1g eclipses. What about a small 16g? Would that be good? I really dont know how to read compressor maps, but I am pretty that my engine(1.8LDOHC) will be good with a turbo has compressor and hot side of less than .60 A/R

I also havent read the book. Can I read it online? Anyway, any reccommendation on turbo size or rather make/model would be greatly appreciated. Remember I'm gonna be using a stock 2g manifold. And I got all the prices off of ebay and www.dsmtrader.com

 

the garrent t25 comes oem on 2g eclipses, 1g`s run mitsu 14b`s which are a little bigger. That`s what i have. The 16b and big 16b are larger yet. But at 8 psi there would be little difference and you would be just as well of with a 14b, as they are cheaper and readily available. The 16b has the same exhaust housing as the 14b, so it would be easy to upgrade down the road.

 

If you were shooting for 8psi then the T25 should be fine. And I never knew a 2g turbo manifold would bolt up to the Beta. Thanks

Both gens will, also the evo.

Even though the t25 will handle 8psi, it will be inefficient at higher boost, which I'm sure you'll want eventually. wink The 14b will handle around 18 but has been used up to 22.

 

i have a bundle of turbo of turbo stuff if u want anything... wink
i got all of my stuff for about 2100, but that includes the 440 rc injectors. so about 1730 i got basically everything i need except for my downpipe and intercooler stuff and some bolts and lines.
im actually trying to rid myself of all my stuff so let me know and ill hook u up with a good price.
