I am currently unsure of how much i plan to spend on a turbo kit. I know the benefits of buying a complete kit for $2 - 3,000. But i dont want to wait that long to save up money; and im going to need money for other things when i get the turbo (clutch kit, injectors, fueel pump, ect.). I have a 97 2.0 and i want it to look as stock as possible (without holding back on performance). I want to build a sleeper, but i dont have much money. Although, i am willing to spend a few thousand, im only 17 and dont want to wait. So basically, im trying to decide if i should get a cheap turbo kit, or spend a couple thousand on the turbo kit alone? Any input would be helpful, thanks.

I was considering a cheap kit like $800 from Ebay. Which would leave me plenty of money to buy all the extras. Im also not looking for extremely large amounts of horsepower either, anything from 220 - 300. Just enough to show up my friends with their hondas. They think theyre so funny talking like Hyundai is a knock off brand, when i beat over half of their N/A's stock. Thanks.

i sware if i see another post like this someone is gonna pay

step 1: go out and buy maximum boost by corky bell

even if you buy one of those "ebay special" turbo kits you will sill need all kinds of extra parts plus the ebay special turbos fall apart

you dont just slap on a turbo to a head and expect to get 300hp

If you have the knowledge and know how, piece on together yourself for cheap. If you don't, but would like to, search and read books (maximum boost by corky bell), then do it. If you don't and don't want to spend time learning, then go ahead and get something bolt-on like the Alpine, but expect it to be way overpriced for what it is (do some searching about the alpine turbo kit to find out more). And never buy an ebay turbo kit ..

If you knew anything about turbos, you would know the ebay kit isn't even complete.

Then if you had searched...then you would know that Viper and Airboune has been putting together a kit also...Don't feel like they are getting on you cause they did me the same way!
