I posted on this a while back and thought I had it fixed but apparently I didn't.
the problem area is the manifold > turbo. I completely took it apart in the spring, had my friend that has a machine shop replace the bolts in timmy's log manifold with studs and he got me some lock nuts that are made for exhaust and aren't supposed to be able to back out. I really cranked those things down with my air gun then put on a 2 ft breaker bar and tightened them down more. Well after about 6 months it started leaking again yesterday....I was able to tighten up the front one while hot about 3/4 a turn and made the leaking go away, but it's very annoying.
The only thing I can figure is it's the heat cycles that eventually let it work out. Has anyone else had this problem? I've seen kits to help with header bolts to stop from backing out but I don't think they'd work in this situation. Unless someone makes one for turbo apps....

If red will work I'll use a tube on each nut. I used blue before and it didn't help much.
my next method will be welding the turbo onto the manifold!!!!

Never had a issue with bolts backing out, but there is always safety wiring them.
Also at ace they have flanged exhaust nuts that have built in locking.

hey man I had a problem with my bolts coming right out of my turbo and losing them.
My bolts go uo through turbo and screw into manifold and they came out.
Now after tring evrything they have out there red locktight dont hold up with that heat
I had no choice but to screw the nuts down has hard as possible and tack a little piece of weld on each nut to bolt,
that way it cant move ever. Not best idea but after taking manifold and turbo out evry other day gets annoying.

I think I'll try double nutting... fing02.gif If that doesn't work then I'll end up tacking it. I've been trying to avoid that however.
