T3/t4 Vs T3 Super 60 Questions
#1
Ok i have a question, i know that the T3/T4E is a bigger turbo than the super 60 but what my main concern is how big of a difference?
For the comparison example, lets just say im running 220 whp on 2 tibs, one running a t3/t4 and the other a super 60. Of course for the two to have the same hp the super 60 would have to be running a higher psi of boost. So assuming everything on both cars are exactly the same except the turbine, then here are a few questions for comparison i'd like to ask.
1. At what RPM would each turbine be fully spooled in this scenario?
2. With the bigger lag in the t3/t4, would the super 60 actually run faster in the 1/4 mile for this scenario?
3. If for example the two cars are running on stock internals, how much could each turbine be pushed in terms of psi max without hurting the engine?
4. What are the limitations of each turbine ?
5. Is lag the only big difference between the two?
thats all i got for now. if i got more or if anyone else has any more please feel free to post. Thanks

1. Can't tell you for sure, but t3/t4 would spool up probably 500rpms later.
2. Most likely be the same if not better with t3/t4 because of the lag you have less chance to spin your tires off the line. And then you will keep your rpms high enough to see no difference.
3. I say 12-15psi on t3, and 8-10psi on t3/t4
4. T3 should max out around 320whp, I think. t3t4 would probably be 50whp more or so.
5. Look up. I answered the questions.

1. Hard to tell, depends on altitude/mods/etc. If the T3 Super 60 reached full spool at 3300, then the T3/T4E would be around 3800. That will give you some comparison numbers at least.
2. For a Beta, I would lean towards the T3 Super 60 being the better turbo for the quarter, if your staying at 220whp... if you bump it up to around 290whp, different story.
3. Really not too much difference. I wouldn't run any higher than 10PSI on stock internals, assuming the car is intercooled and the fuel system is large enough and the car is tuned.
4. I don't have the charts on me, but the T3 Super 60 maxes out at around 330whp (23PSIish), and I would guess the T3/T4E at about 380whp(24PSIish). Just an educated guess though considering how they are set up.
5. The T3 Super 60 is an already modified T3. That means you can't really do anything else to it to improve its power, its maxed out. The T3/T4E you can play with to help push the efficiency up a little.

LOL I clicked reply and didn't start typing for a few minutes. You know my dialup running 0.8KB a second owns all. lol.gif

I have the T3/T04E and I don't notice lag at all. Lag is hyped up WAY too much. You're not gonna see that much of a diference between the two. If you're going for over 220hp, then get the t3/to4e. One day you might build up your motor and will be wishing you hadn't wasted your money on the smaller one.
You might even get confident enough to boost up to 280whp with it on the stock motor.

Lag is overrated. But don't bolt on a T66 and think you'll run 12's.

Ok OP and Ham keep the off topic comenets out of here, next time I will take points.
Now on to the orignal post:
The lag difference between the .48 T3 Super 60 and the .48 T3/T4 (like in the config I see it) There is virtually no lag difference, and you will gain more with the T3/T4 since it has a lager more effecient wheel.
The Super 60 will get you to around 250-260 range on our cars, the T3/T4 will take you to the 320-340 range. to get more than that you will need to jump up to a larger .68 stage 3 T3/TO4E. That will spool about 300 rpm later due to the larger turbine wheel.
I have used all the above turbos on my elantra and all of them are good, and it really depends on your presesnt and future HP goals with the car.
