Supercharged and now the next step
OK, I'm sure most of you know that I have been running (?) the dodgy alpine s/c unit.
My current list of mods can be seen by clicking the link in my sig.
I have a few questions about what I could/should do next.
I wondering whether I need to -
-change the plugs, I'm using the usual NGK copper v's at the moment.
-upgrade the fuel pump
-get the s/c IM bored to match the bbtb
I'm sure the clutch may give up sooner or later, but I'll change that when I need to.
I'm still waiting to get the Unichip retuned to sort out some little niggly problems with the fuel and timing.

I'm a little worried about getting the IM bored as this would mean taking off the s/c - which at the moment is working OK.
I would like to increase the boost, I should be finding out soon how much power the car is putting out at the moment.

This is a rather naive question...let's say that I have 4-1 headers, do I have to take it out if I buy a S/C?
Also I kind of recall that you had problems installing it which eventually almost doubled the price of the S/C...I am now thinking of getting one, other than Alpine, do you know of any other manufacturers?

Headers work with a supercharger, but headers do NOT work with a turbocharger.
I can say, that there will be 2 new Supercharger kits on the market within the next Six months. Both KORE and SR are working on new units. Untill then, Alpine and CAPA are about your only options.

Put some colder heat range plugs in. Don't run anything less than the highest octane you can get (93 here).
Assuming it's an Eaton s/c you shouldn't go higher than 8psi. 8psi is the most efficient boost pressure for Eaton superchargers. Anything higher creates more heat and draws more power from the crank. Some people (Civic owners) have installed pullies so small that the blades inside expanded with the heat and contacted the inside of the supercharger casing.
