Just a question about supercharging. I'm assuming it's still possible to run a CAI with a supercharger, right? If so, would it be necessary (would it help), or would it just be a waste?

Yes, you can do it, and I would imagine it would help. 70 degree air being compressed an X percentage by a supercharger is going to be cooler than 85 degree air being compressed X percentage.

Sport compact car magazine had a letter on this same subject a few issues back involving CAIs and turbos. In a nutshell.. a compresser of any sort (S/c or turbo) will heat the air up no matter what... BUT. depending on the ambiant tempeture of the air entering the compresser.. it ramps up how much it heats the air.

for example..

say for instance you are sucking a new 60 degree air into your turbo through the filter.. the turbo is going to heat the air up 100 degrees as it boosts the air pressure... you are now sucking in 160 degree air.. which is less dense than 60 degree air..

If you drove through 100 degree air.. that same turbo might heat that air 120 degrees.. so now you are sucking in 220 degree air into the engine..

see what I am saying? The Hotter the air you pull into your turbo or S/C the hotter it is going to be going into the engine.

What's with the Alpine??? Although if i ever went as far as boosting, i'd probably go with a Turbo anyway.

^ he's right. it's heavy, small, and will only give you 40 horsepower without any supporting mods. zoe from ukcs forums got hers to 200hp with crank pulley and flywheel or so... the intake is very small too.

but likewise it depends on the person. if you want cheap boost i'm going to be selling my alpine for somebody who actually knows a lot more than i do.

Trust my furry brother here, the Alpine is crap.

Crappy 5th injector setup, crappy engine management, crappy manifolds, crappy shipping times, crappy customer service after delivery.

However, some may look at the Alpine SC as a more powerful alternative to the Airram, being that you can still use your CAI+Headers.
Just a thought.
