Smt6 And Msd

hi i was wondering im going to be running like 300whp will i need a msd hooked up to with the smt6 or will the smt6 work fine with the timing

I think it would be a good idea to have the MSD unit to control timing. I think that the smt6 has been limited to +-5 in timing which is pretty poor. I'm really not for sure though, I know that you can adjust it but not by much.

Definitely get an MSD, you'll have more, if not total, control.

You do not have the +-7 degrees limitation with the SMT6 if you use an external igniter (you bypass the stock ecu completely), from a 2g Eclipse for example.

Really? Cool, I didn't know that.

But it is true then that you're limited to the +- 7 with JUST the smt6 right?
