If this has been covered already please provide link.

Could a person use the smt-6 to control 4 larger injectors only with the extra injector output on the smt-6. Instead of using a dual fuel rail to control a seperate set just replace the stock injectors with some larger ones? Just cut the wires that run into the ecu and wire up the smt-6 to the injector outputs ? Also could this system retard timing by modifying the lamda signals? I have done some research and I believe it can ? So would this system be similar to a standalone? and would it work properly?

I thought you were selling?

Anyways, I know, for a fact, that you didn't search.

The SMt-6 IS a piggyback, which IS a semi standalone.

Here's your links.

^^^
And that's just with SMT6 in the title.

I'm closing this thread, go search, or read the links in my search first.

Go and read their site, and the FAQ there, you'll find most of the answers you are looking for.

There is no such thing as a "semi" standalone, it's either a piggyback, where it modifys signals coming from your ECU, or a standalone.

What STAND-ALONE features does an SMT6 have?
Answer: The SMT6 can adjust dwell time on standard square wave ignition signals, making it perfect for controlling ignition advance and retard on distributor driven engines. It was not designed to be a stand-alone unit, but some people use it as such.

Can the SMT remove any Lambda sensors?
Answer: Yes. But you may not want to do this. In most cars lambda is active from idle to cruising only. Full power is seldom controlled by closed loop. Don’t remove the lambda, just tune it.

http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp

Lambda Feature: With the SMT6 it is possible to read the lambda sensor, as well as modify the lambda sensor signals. There are two modes of lambda tuning - linear and non-linear. The linear mode tunes according to the voltage of the sensor, while the non-linear mode allows you to tune according to a lambda value. Both tuning modes are selectable via the setup screen in the Windows Tuning Software.

So, it can do what you want lambda wise, but the injector Idea, I'd say no. It would be dumb to do your injectors like that anyways. I'd just put in bigger injectors with the SMT6, then adjust the tune on it.

Again, if you actually LOOK a little, you'll find almost every answer you want. Or you could contact them to ask them your super specific questions.

Nathan,

I know what you are trying to achieved, but it wont work! The injecto map table of the SMT-6 only works on the + (positive) part or just adding fuel. It wont take away fuel... so wont be able to back down the larger injectors at all

I know for sure that the megasquirt can do a semi-standalone setup like the one you are trying to do.

could be done,
in fact i'm sure some will remember cnk (not good memories)
he was using the smt6 to control the priomairies inejctors in a standalone mode

is it good? well, you'll need to make your fuel map perfect, and take in account temperature variations
so in fact you'll need to retune for major temp variation

go extra injector if you want to save some tuning time
or with a real standalone if your patient

Redz thanks for being patient, I have searched but I could not find anyone with a similar setup..I was going to sell, but I cant part with my tib so Im just buying a daily. Even my family tells me I'll never sell it heart.gif

Denistt and Jay thanks, I have had this cross my mind a couple times and didnt know who to go to for questions. If FunkyPc gets his megasquirt figured out I might go that route.
