That oil shouldn't be too thin, I'm running Royal Purple 10w30 and it does fine.

I would look elsewhere.

Is the turbo oil cooled? Do any fluids tend to get used up over time?

It is water cooled. what do you mean any fluids tend to get used up?

All fluid levels look good. Oil/water levels look good.

I have read some where that switching to something like a 0-40 stops some cars from smoking.

You cant see the smoke when idle, only when coming to a stop or accerating.

Another question i have. Can i run a water cooled turbo without the water hooked up? I know it would work, but for how long?

I just was asking if a fluid's level turns up low. If you've got white smoke you are probably burning water, either from a leak in the turbo or the head gasket. If you cup your hand past the exhaust pipe and then smell your hand it might smell like coolant if it's a water leak, or you might have noticeable condensation on your hand.

0w-40 is thinner oil than 10w-40. If you run something thick like 20w-50 it can help stop a car from smoking in some situations, but it usually won't help. And if you were burning oil it would have a significant blue tint to the smoke.

I wouldn't run the turbo without being hooked up to coolant for more than a minute or so personally, but that's just my personal opinion.

white smoke can also mean condensation in the exhaust...is it rainy there?

adding thicker oil is just a bandaid fix for smoke out of the exhaust

No it hasnt been rainy lately.
I did notice a while back when i was swaping my headers around, i that my exhuast ports were moist.

187 now that you mention about the fulid issue. My H2O has been running a little low.

With the boost, is it possable that my head gasket is going?
