Im wanting to put together a turbo kit little by little, and i have already braught up the safc2 not goign good with our engine...but i have two questions....if i stick to boost pressure under 8 psi will the safc2 be sufficient for tuning, and what kind of turbocharger can i get from a junkyard, like an eclipse turbo, that has pressure internally gated at what im looking for...

pretty sure that even at only 8psi the amount of fuel you will need to add to compensate will be beyond the range of the safc, the ecu will only let the safc control it so much, before it gets pissed and takes control. lmao.gif

I am running 6 lbs of boost with no safc. You probably wont even need it, as long as u upgrade ur whole fuel system. You (and me) just wouldnt run enough boost for it to need tuning.
As far as getting a turbo from an eclipse, (or talon), visit dsmsupport.com and speek to admin over there. His name is andy. His buddy jesse runs highline motorsports, and i can get u one through him. I'll PM u my phone number to get u in contact with them, they'll work out pricing and everything. They'll be able to hook you up with any dsm parts u need. They also run safc2 on all their cars and could get u tips on tuning them.

The ECU is probably sufficient enough to tune 6psi out of a little turbo. Probably barely touching 150whp, and the Tib can control that N/A so should be no reason why it can't control it boosted.
Its not going to control it very well mind you, but your not going to blow it up in all probability.
S-AFC really isn't a good tuning device at all anyway. Some of the people on DSM Online Forums are, frankly, dumbasses for using it. There are more idiotic turbo DSM owners than most other turbo cars sadly. I had to deal with them for years. lmao.gif They do have plenty of knowledgable people, however.
Knowledgable people don't run S-AFCs. lmao.gif

What would be better then Safc but reasonably cheap, I have full access to a dyno so is their a hyundai equivalent of xcal2? I would really like something I can plug my laptop into and tune myself since dyno run's are free for me.

With their ECU's they can pull of safc2's for mid boost. A local guy is running 328awhp with a safc2. Ours you can pull of up to 8psi max.
Your not going to find a turbo that runs at 5psi. Most internally gated turbo wastegates have a spring rate of around 8 psi. Maybe you can get away with using a MBC.
Also, try a very small DSM turbo, like a 13G.
