Rod Pistions and Quaife LSD group buy Survey
I feel tony just threw that number out there, you have to remember most of the beginners start off with I/E/H which will take them to about 140 at the wheels which is more like 160 or so, then a differential like Tony said will be fun... also how many begin with NOS before a turbo, well with it they're closer to that 200whp mark, don't you think a differential will be fun there???

I just dont think an LSD will be that much of an upgrade at 120whp-135whp
At 200whp... yes i can see it being a benefit
I think people should go ahead with their turbo plans... once they play with the turbo, have it running, and feel the dark side of the force... they will want more power
In the meantime, they could actually get their car running with the new pistons and turbo
But thats just my opinion...

Maybe in time i'll turbo my car...Everytime(being 2)i try to turbo, things always come up... sad.gif
However, i do have nitrous, and i want to build up for the nitrous...
My tranny is rebuilt and i dont plan on going to high in HP for the LSD right now...
My vote was for the Rod/Piston group buy..
With the rod/piston group by going first.

BTW... i think tibboy was selling an NX direct port kit...
I wouldn't mind buying both but seing how im building up an engine taking my time about it i vote for pistons and rods...
If i was not i would say put the LSD first reason being
Think of a 4500-6000 rpm Launchs... Yes thats where a nice launch could take place giving you some nice kinetic energy, good horse power, nice torque, and very fast take offs.. cus if you slam that stock Diff you will probally break it if your running any type of slick on your car.. I can't say that for sure cus i don't have slicks and don't launch at that high of an RPM and don't have a clutch that wouldn't slip.. just my food for thought i think with clutch diff and tires that you could drop in to mid 15's on a pretty much stock engine...

I've read in past posts that whenever you decide to go for forged pistons/rods you need to bore out the block. What is the reason behind this and would it be necessary with these pistons/rods in the group buy? Thanks
Its because they dont come as the stock size they are a pecision fit. Whats the point of getting the after market pistons and rings and putting them into a worn bore. So they make them slightly oversized so that once the block has been machined they are a spot on fit. The reason is your wear will be differant to mine and differant to the next mans. So when you get your block bored out to suit it puts you on a level playing field as it were. But its not the same as people who have thier blocks bored out to increase the volume and make the piston walls wafer thin its only a very small removal. Hope that helped
Thanks for the reply, definitely helped. So what's the process people go through typically to get their engines bored out? Do they normally just drop off the entire car or just the block? What would you look for when you're picking a shop and how much should you expect to pay to get it done?
