Ive honestly thought about doing this. With a rear mount turbo you dont need a turbo manifold and you arent restricted by the size of the turbo. Only challenge is running the charge pipe back up to the intake manifold. I talked to someone who did a rear mount on a GK tiburon and hes not even running an intercooler, which would make the turbo lag really bad. If i do go forced induction, i plan on going rear mount, just cause no one has done it on an RD, so why not. If it doesnt work out it wont be too bad to convert it back to N/A and save up to do a traditional turbo.

explain to me how not running a intercooler would cause lag

been kicking around the idea of boosting the maxima using a rear mount

id rock a inline water intercooler just to make it look like all i had was a cold air intake

entire cost would be like a grand

David, I think he meant the intercooler would cause really bad turbo lag, if he were running one.

My bad, i meant to say running an intercooler with a rear mount would cause turbo lag. I thought about an inline intercooler like that, but we'll see. Also have been looking for a oil pump for the turbo itself, any ideas what would be the best oil to run through the turbo?

Roommate's carhas a gigantic intercooler and a T80 turbo. No lag. It's all about picking the right turbo.

I'm currently building a budget Camaro with twin turbos mounted in the back. I created a separate oil containment that holds like 3 quarts of oil. Problem with rear mount systems is properly oiling the turbo(s). If you go off the motor Squires sells a special pump thing to help it along. I haven't finished mine to know if it works or not but I know if done properly they work great.

yea i plan on doing a separate oil can for the turbo, just need to figure out the right pump and the best oil for a turbo. Also plan on using 2" piping for the intake, would there be anything wrong with using exhaust piping besides the added weight? or would aluminum piping be best?

The problem isn't oiling, it's scavenging. The Squires runs a pump directly from the turbo. I prefer to run turbo drain to a sump and then pump from the sump to the pan.

I'm hoping to have got around the scavenge problem by having my oil system so close and low to the turbos. But I will find out when I try it all out.
