I dont know if this information is different as to when Random or any other Alpine Turbo owners purchased there kit...so I will post it:

Interested in information on this kit : http://www.alpine-developments.co.za/hyund...tiburon_2.0.htm
1) Kits are available from our branch in California - see attached for details related to the system.
2) The kit is provided with a unichip system that has a basic turbo programme installed and all you would need to do is to get the vehicle to a unichip dealer for the unit to be fine tuned. (we could advise closest dealer to you, once we know where you are in Florida).
3) The original powder coated pipes have now been replaced with stainless steel.
The Alpine turbocharger and intercooler system is supplied complete with fitting instructions and can be installed by any motor mechanic or persons who have a good understanding of the automobile engine.
KIT COMPOSITION:
The fully engineered Turbo and Intercooler System consists of the following:
· MITSUBISHI TD04 TURBO WITH NI-RESIST TURBINE HOUSING
· CAST IRON TURBO MANIFOLD
· POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL TURBO MANIFOLD HEAT SHIELD
· EXHAUST DOWN PIPE FROM TURBO
· STAINLESS STEEL HEAD SPACER FOR ENGINE DECOMPRESSION PURPOSES
· SPARK PLUGS
· SUPPLIMENTAL FUEL INJECTOR CONTROLLER (UNICHIP AND TURBO MODULE) PLUS EXTRA INJECTOR
· ALUMINIUM INTERCOOLER COMPLETE WITH ALL AIR DUCTING (POWDER COATED BLACK)
· STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED TEFLON HOSES FOR WATER AND OIL FEEDS TO THE TURBO
· FUEL REGULATOR
PLUS ALL HOSE CLAMPS, STUDS, NUTS, PRESSURE HOSES AND FITTINGS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION.
POWER & TORQUE OUTPUTS:
RPM HP(cool.gif HP (A) FT/LBS (cool.gif FT/LBS(A)
1500 32 48 112 168
2000 50 86 133 228
2500 69 128 146 270
3000 89 156 157 274

5500 156 237 149 227
6000 150 230 137 202
B: BEFORE CONVERSION A: AFTER CONVERSION
All quoted power and torque figures were taken from our own Tiburon, on the rolling road dynamometer in our fitment center in KwaZulu Natal South Africa. The
vehicle in question was stock prior to the install of the conversion kit.
For any further information that maybe required please fee free to contact us or to view pictures and power graphs, please refer to our website www.topgear.co.za/Alpine-Developments
So now the kit look's to only be $2,600.00 SHIPPED...interesting. Wasn't this kit around $4,000.00 when Random purchased it? As I knwo htere was issues with his install (and I think another one's) ....you think they've improved with time? And by reading there spec's...one might expect to see 230WHP on a total stock'd Tiburon with this kit?
Has Alpine resolved all current and open issues with Random and/or others?
Thanks

Sometrhing's fishey with the stock HP curve. Look at it. Isn't the 2.0L betas rated at 140HP @6000 RPM at the flywheel. How would you get 156HP @ 5500RPm on the dyno? (ie to the wheels out of a stock tibby. and after 5500RPM the stock HP rating actually goes down. And not even to 140. it says 150. I could understand how that curve after 5500RPM would go down with a turbo setup though. they actually claim 257HP @ 5500RPM for peak HP.
But my concern is the HP ratings at the wheels are considerably higher than factory ratings at the flywheel. (aren't you supposed to be loosing HP thourgh the drive train? Not gaining it. If these are right can someone tell me where I can get a drivetrain that actually improves HP to ther wheels?

No, they don't make the HP they claim. They've had 4 trys at tuning my Unichip to make power, and 169 HP at the wheels was the best they could do.
If you were to go with Alpine, use it as a starter kit. You would also need.
350cc or 440cc injectors
low compression forged pistions
Stronger forged rods
Stronger clutch
Boost Gauge
Oil Temp gauge
oil pressure gauge
fuel pressure gauge
air/fuel meter
Blow off Valve
That should get you to 250 to the wheels with the unichip. The biggest drawback to the Alpine kit is their 5th injector, and crappy tuning. The Unichip is actually a damn decent unit, when tuned right. Tuning on the unichip will run you between $500 and $900 bucks, and take about a wekend. The unichip should be able to handle the 350 or 440 CC injectors and still idle decently, you can then dump the 5th injector.
I paid $1900 for the kit, installed. I have not paid for any of their "re-tuning" as they have yet to make the system perform as they claimed. I still get Misfire CEL errors every day.

Hey random why not go with the SMT-5 unit rather than the uni chip. Much faster to program. Should take like 3 runs on a rolling road dyno. Much cheaper too I guess in Dyno fees.
Maybe if Alpine was starting out with the right Stock numbers for the beta. smile.gif

you could replace the Unichip with something else. S-AFC, SMT-5, Haltec EK6...but it all depends on money. As delivered, the Alpine setup NEEDS the UniChip to run the 5th injector. Once you eliminate that, you simply things...

Random is right the kit is good i dont think i have had as many problems as random but the programme they give you is crap. There are some serious flat and lean spots on it.Its a pity my UK car runs of a different manifold sensor otherwise i could give you my programme.

I would never trust any turbo setup that had only three runs on a dyno it should be at least a days work to get it right and safe.
