Re: Who is up for a midwest chapter?

Well about 2 days ago I decided it was time to raise the boost and see what I really could push the car on the stock internals up to.

So here is the video I shot earlier this morning, I keep running up on traffic to quickly so I had to roll the throttle versus the full on assault it is capable of.

No Sound on Vid sorry for that: http://www.turbo-wagon.speed-factor.com/vi...video/17psi.avi

Sorry I meant 10.0:1 CR lol.gif

And there is nothing done to the Internals of the car, it is the same as if you bought it off the lot.

Clutch problem

What have you done for tuning so your engine doesn't blow up? I assume safc2, did you change fuel pressure at all, and do you have anything for spark?

Speed-Factor 11-24-2004 03:31 PM

Re: OZ-BBTB

No I run 17psi daily now, and it has a SAFCv1, MSD Dis 2, Stock GST Fuel Pump, FMU, and 340cc Injectors.

Any more questions feel free to ask.

Re: My new box :) *with pics*

Do you have an automatic or do you know if the automatics can take the turbo 10 psi? I talked to a local shop that does a lot of turbos and they said atuos can't handle it. They want $5000 for the kit and instal I think I can choose the kit (Extream is what I have been looking at).
Will it be ok if I don't give it gas during the shift?

Speed-Factor 11-24-2004 05:48 PM

National POW/MIA internet Blackout day ATTN:MODERATORS

Yes I have an Automatic, and it never drops the boost in shifting and I don't let off when it shifts.

brian01tib 11-24-2004 05:52 PM

Re: Raised the Boost (Vid inside)

How long have you had it on? And do you think I should put it on myself during the summer, when I have time,or pay the shop $2000 how hard can it be. My dad can help and I think I can get some of my friends too.

Speed-Factor 11-24-2004 05:59 PM

Re: Raised the Boost (Vid inside)

I have had it on the car for 6 months and not 1 slip on the tranny, also (some may argue) but my kit can be installed by someone with a medium level of car experiance, i.e. working on cars.

If you can change belts, spark plugs, and oil, you can put on this kit. Also you will need to have an assortment of tools aswell.

THATS REDICULUS MAN!!! WOW!

It didn't seem to speed up that fast though. Maybe it's just me.

brian01tib 11-24-2004 06:02 PM

Re: Raised the Boost (Vid inside)

i have done my oil, new seat belts,4 point, and transmission fluid
I think my dad has almost every tool, what are some of the unusual ones you need?

Speed-Factor 11-24-2004 07:40 PM

Re: Quick question to Tim

OP I was barely on the throttle cause of traffic, I think the SAFC was showing 50% throttle on that run, I will have some more vids to show the speed later with a wot blast.

I dont see how u dont get detonation with 10:1 compression, i mean, i dont know a lot, but everyone that i talk to says it is boarder line impossible...

Re: OZ-BBTB

Cool. NOT playing on the safe side though.

Isn't the stock compression for a 2.0L Beta 10.3:1 ?

I'm a 1.8l, and I don't see it as borderline it is all in the tuning.

So far I have destroyed every myth there was out there about the Beta motor and how much abuse it can take.

Thanks for the comments guys.

He's gonna say that all you gotta do is get your A/F ratios right....

I'd love to know how he tunes his car!

Speed-Factor 11-25-2004 08:24 AM

Re: Email Announcements

OP is right about the A/F being set at a safe level, I will be posting a lot of information that deals with tuning and what all is involed with it in the near future.

Do you have any dyno print outs? i'd love to see em.

do you get any surges at all?

have you got an external wastegate - what size?

what turbo r u using...

sorry for all the q's im interested as hell. wink.gif

Pretty sure it's 2.5in mandrel bent exhaust, no dyno as of yet, internal wastegate, t3 60super trim.

Re: Subaru Rally crash

i think u guys are forgetting he is running a t3 super 60... 17psi on that is a lil differant than 17psi on a bigger turbo

while it is impressive i doubt its gonna survive that long

is that on 93 octane?

on 93 when i was @ 15psi i was getting slight knock... @ 12.5:1 afr

if u make it 10:1 there is nothing but hte power dropps

psi isnt that meaningful of an indicator

hell anybody can runn 30psi on a motor if they can maintain a 10:1 afr... it wont have much power but it will still be 30psi

not giving tim shit just pointing stuf out

FYI 17psi on a 2.0 beta with 12.0 AFR put me to 315 WHP

silvertibbs 11-28-2004 04:36 PM

Re: Raised the Boost (Vid inside)

I hear ya Viper, only thing is Tim has been running at 13psi for quite some time now. He has slowly been pushing it a little bit further each time he posts. I agree that psi is not a good indication but coming from the 7psi he started at he's been making some serious strides.

I'm anxious to see what comes of all this punishment wink.gif

alz99 11-28-2004 07:38 PM

Re: About ARK

YEAH i didn't know what type of turbo he ran. hence why i asked.

8) still none the less. id love to see a dyno read out if he has 1

must be pretty responsive?? do you get much lag tim?

his auto tranny is stock, and everything inside of his engine is stock as well besides the fuel crap.

I believe 8psi was max with his stock fuel setup.

He has a wideband but not a dyno. I'm sure he's tuned above 10:1 a/f. Probably 12:1
