I am looking to supercharge my RD2, but like most people i am short on cash due to my third rate job. since the supercharger setup you can buy on hyundaiperformance.com is about $3000, i am looking for a cheaper supercharger system. where can i get one?
Won't find anything cheaper unless you find a used one, which you could probably get at around $1000. Even though they don't make much power, $1000 is a pretty good deal because you'll still have more power than just an N/A setup, and with an SC you can still have your CAI+Headers.
However, if you're looking for good power the only thing you can do is save up 2500-3500 and get a turbo kit, the ones from RealEngineering look really nice.

As much as I love Super chargers, they just are not worth the money when it comes to our engines.
Save a bit more and pick up a Turbo charger, then you will see better results, for a slightly higher cost.

i would perfer a supercharger to a turbo because so i can show off my chrome headers. plus with some of my top end engine mods i may get around 200 foot pounds of torque, which is what i am looking for.

The kit that HP sells is the Alpine Developments kit, you can get it for $2800 from them direct, or there is a used one in our For Sale section.
You could get 200tq easily with a light turbocharger setup... wink1.gif
There isn't enough room in the engine bay to get a lot of power out of the Beta with a supercharger setup. As said, you will be looking at $5,000 more than a turbocharger setup to get your goals.

you dont want a supercharger, as for looks of the header you think its worth what 50 hp or so i maen really plus with a turbo you can get all th looks you want with a big IC right in the front of your car fing02.gif but if your worried about money i wouldnt get forced induction at all because you can be out of a car for a while because you cant afford a part, its been covered in the fourms manytimes why turbo is better than super, you can get a really small turbo to make 200 hp wit almost no lag but you prolly dont race with lots of tight turns where you dont want lag, for street lag isnt a problem just on the track, plus turbos are alot easier to change the boost, also your local shop can prolly make one they told me it would be 4500 for a custom setup where they make the exhaust mani to my specs and all so basically more hp = more $$ or racing = $$ mainly in tires which i messed up last weekend
woah, easy guys... he said he is only lookin to get about 200... which is about what youll get with a S/C. Plus, he said that he wants to keep his present headers... with a Turbo.. that isnt gonna happen.
You dont have a lot of options here... Alpine is prolly the biggest option... but you are gonna get a Unichip with that as a piggyback for your ECU... unless you want to get something else... but get it from Alpine themselves... search "alpine developments"
