Price for a boosted motor...
Here it is, the finalized price for ALL the parts necessary for JUST the engine. This is everything I have spent, including shipping where applicable.
$675 - Crower forged rods
$554 - Ross forged pistons, pins, rings, locks
$457 - Port, texture, deshrowding work on head, shipping and insurance to CA
$367 - Line-bored, decked, hottanked block and balanced rotating assy
$322 - Entire engine gasket rebuild kit and rod/crank bearings
$200 - 04/98 Elantra 2.0L longblock donor w/5000 miles (VERY special deal hehe)
$162 - ARP head studs, crank main studs
$149 - 16 x valve springs, spring seats, retainers; 32 x retainer locks
$111 - Stock flywheel + harmonic balancer pulley from junkyard
$44 - Timing belt sprocket, washer, "flange", misc bolts
That's it. $3041 US currency, should be fully able to deal out more power than the stock transmission could ever live through (400+ WHP). I'm not counting the cam cost because they're prototypes and the "price" I paid is directly related to dyno time wink.gif
This does NOT include the expenses of:
Fuel delivery components
Computer system
Ignition equipment
Turbo hardware
Transmission upgrade
Suspension upgrade
Please also note that a LOT of money has been saved because I'm doing nearly all the work myself -- the only labor I'm paying for is stuff that I cannot do with my own tools (porting the head, machining/honing the cylinder bores, balancing the rotating assembly or decking the block.)
This post is specifically for those wanting to know about "building a block". This is a good place to START when thinking about costs involved with doing it correctly...
Block goes into the shop in 10 days, I should have it back around a week after dropping it off.

He hog-ported intake and exhaust ports and deshrowded the valves from the overbore. I'm lapping the valves myself and the head surfacing will be done as part of the deck work on the block here in ABQ.
Shipping was handled by Airborne Express, about $38 each direction with $500 insurance coverage and 2nd-day delivery (I get hella discounts from these guys)

He's doing a line-bore (using my arp studs and a torque plate), clearancing all the bearings, claytesting the quench areas for decking the block, balancing the rotating assembly, shaving and surfacing the stock flywheel, surfacing the head and hottanking the block.

Theoretically speaking, I've followed the same guidelines that the crazies in Korea use to make 500+ wheel horsepower. Given proper tuning, 22 pounds of boost and a 150 shot of nitrous would probably not even make it flinch.
For a supercharger and a 100-shot, you wouldn't have to go quite this far...

You know what the funny part is. Is that I could go your route plus buy the stage 2 from ufb over in south africa. Lets do a round figure of 10k after everything is installed. Your total price you paid for car is less than 25k(depending where you bought car or used what not). I don't think you can beat that. 25k+or- for a car pushing over 250hp at the wheels in our class of car is not a bad deal. Because if you go buy honda minimum 19k brand new basic model you spend up to 30k. Am I right or wrong.

You're still wrong unfortunately... You might indeed spend $25K to make a car with 250HP at the tires, but that's FAR from a good deal.
