Default Possible to do a turbo set up for $1500?

I recently won some money ($1500) and i was wondering if its possible to piece together a turbo kit for that much? Most full complete kits I have seen are about $2,000 and up but what if I piece it together piece by piece? Think I could do it? Im not looking for crazy insane power. I would only probably keep it at 6-8 psi until I get more money to make the car safer at higher boost levels.

Yeah its possible. You would have to find some used parts. Your biggest obstacle would be tuning with that budget.

If you had your own MIG, and had extensive knowledge, then I'd say yes. However, most people don't have these and end up spending more initially and afterwards having to repair their work.

To be honest yes.
What is going to save you the most money and least headaches when buying used is a manifold.
(i bought a used manifold and had it re welded and still cost less than new)
Buying a used tuning system has risks, but can also yield cost savings.
Bov used.
gauges used.

Other than that i would buy new parts.
And if you went ebay turbo that would cut costs a bit.
Used wast gates are risky to me as its one of the more important parts.
Intercooler new
piping new
couplers new

if you did it this way you will be able to stay under the 1500 mark

You can certainly do it if you have the knowledge!

Picking up a low mileage EVO 8 Turbo/manifold/downpipe is the easy part. You can typically get all 3 for 500 or less on EVO forums. The harder part will be the intercooler and piping as well as tuning. For a low boost setup you could get four 440cc injectors and a Perfect Power SMT8 for about 400 together. Any money you have left should be used on the dyno.

My entire turbo set up came in a little under 1400. I bought all used stuff except the piping, manifold, and wastegate.
