Pistons
Need to know the tib specs on the pistons. Going with forged wiesco or ross pistons(8:5:1) for my turbo project. Don't want to overbore.
Thanks |
When you use forged pistons, you go overbore, there isn't an option. Forged pistons require much larger piston-to-wall clearances than a hyper-eutectic or stock piston, and as such the block must be prepped for the larger bore requirement.
Ross is essentially your only option for one-offs. Call Darius (pronounced Der-I-us) and ask him for a set of Tiburon pistons in whatever compression you want. He will take care of everything else. Also remember that the forged pistons will require either a rework of your stock rods or else new rods. The piston pin on the forged pistons is a full-floating design and the stock rods do not have the appropriate bushing from the factory. |
how much of an overbore must i do? Also should i buy crowers or just refinish the stock rods. My goal is 300whp.

Would the cnk pistons hold 300whp? My opinion is that it could but what about reliability factor.

The problem is that anyone has yet to challenge the CNK pistons that far, so there is no way to tell... I would hopefully be taking mine to about 210+ and I'll let you know... from what I'm told yes they are up to 300whp... I trust and believe Chris at CNK problem is that many factors could change that # down or up...
Also before Tony tells you, please learn to use the EDIT BUTTON, and don't double post... thanks [ October 30, 2002, 11:26 AM: Message edited by: Bat Lord ] |
